A nonprofit services organization in New York City is actively seeking a new Credentialed Alcohol & Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC) to join their growing residential substance use treatment program in Queens.
About the Opportunity:
Shift: Day
Schedule: Monday to Friday
Hours: 8am to 5pm (8 hours per day; 1-hour unpaid lunch)
Setting: Residential substance use treatment program
Responsibilities:
Conducting individual, group, and family counseling sessions
Developing and updating treatment and recovery plans
Using evidence-based practices
Collaborating with medical/psychiatric teams
Providing psychoeducation on SUD, mental health, and relapse prevention
Performing other duties, as needed
Qualifications:
2+ years of experience in Behavioral Health and/or Substance Use Treatment
High School Diploma / GED
Credentialed Alcohol & Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC)
Familiarity with EMRs
Solid assessment and documentation skills
Excellent communication skills
Strong problem-solving abilities
Empathetic and patient-focused
Desired Skills:
Bachelor's Degree
Active CASAC-2 or higher
Additional relevant certifications
Experience with Residential Treatment settings
Experience with Motivational interviewing
