We are looking for dedicated, caring and compassionate people to work in our Residential/Outpatient Treatment Facilities and Community Programs.

Credentialed Team Leader

Location: All Straight & Narrow Programs

Hours: Tuesday-Saturday (8:30am-4:30pm)

Regular Salary: $34/hourly

Job Summary:

As a line counselor, the team leader will provide leadership and oversight of specific program and clinical operations as instructed by the program’s clinical supervisor. Responsibilities will focus upon working with the clinical staff to ensure the provision of services based upon the organization's policies and procedures and licensing standards.

Position Specific Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Each substance abuse counselor shall be responsible for the following:

  1. Assessing the counseling needs of the clients;
  2. Assessing clients using the ASI or using other standardized assessment tool and for adolescents using the CASI or using other evidence-based validated assessment tool and diagnosing clients for substance disorders using the DSM-IV-TR;
  3. Determining the appropriate level of care based on ASAM PPC-2R;
  4. Obtaining previous records that are relevant to the current treatment episode;
  5. Collaborating with the client in order to develop a written treatment plan that is client-centered and recovery oriented and includes goals and measurable objectives.
  1. The director of substance abuse counseling shall develop, monitor and provide clients and the treatment team with written schedules that will be used to update each client treatment plan(s) in order to ensure that each client's treatment needs are addressed;
  1. Providing the substance abuse counseling services specified in the client treatment plan;
  2. Reviewing clients throughout the treatment episode according to ASAM PPC-2R, to determine the need for continued services or discharge/transfer;
  3. Reviewing and, where necessary, revising the substance abuse counseling portion of the client treatment plan to address emerging problems;
  4. Developing the client discharge/transfer plans to ensure movement to the appropriate levels of care;
  5. Contacting referral sources, providing case consultation, and coordination with referral sources (for example: mental health treatment providers, criminal justice agencies, schools, employers, the Division of Youth and Family Services);
  6. Participating as a member of a multidisciplinary team for assigned clients;
  7. Providing active case consultation; and
  8. Documenting all counseling and education services, assessments, reassessments, referrals and follow-up in the client's clinical record, providing appropriate signatures and dating of such entries, including those made in electronic records.

Additional Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Maintain a minimum case load as required by the level of care of the program assigned
  2. Supervise the counseling team as directed by the Clinical Supervisor or Director,
  3. Provide oversight of the clinical coverage of services
  4. Participate in Team meetings as scheduled.
  5. Provide the Clinical Director with monthly reports on the status of the program.
  6. Participate in program Strategic Planning process with the Clinical and Director and implement the strategic plan initiatives.
  7. Plan, develop and initiate Program Development initiatives with the treatment team.
  8. Participate in the design and implementation of policies and procedures.

Finances

  1. Assist in oversight and manage the submission of daily billing of services provided.

Human Resources

  1. Assist in the departmental orientation and training of the counseling staff and interns
  2. Assist in the development and implementation of a Volunteer Services Program.
  3. Obtain/maintain appropriate licenses/certifications. Continue to pursue own professional development.

Programs

  1. Assist in the maintenance of county and state contracts as appropriate. Be available for necessary site visits.
  2. Obtain and maintain appropriate licensure for Agency.
  3. Work with Clinical Supervisor and Director of program development.
  4. Make recommendations to the clinical team regarding the admission of new residents.
  5. Input client data into NJSAMS and monitor LOCI renewals as needed.
  6. Facilitate groups and/or individual sessions (process and educational) as needed.
  7. Ensure that individual clients are compliant with medical and psychiatric treatment recommendations and that this treatment is noted on client’s treatment plan.
  8. Act as a member of the treatment team, providing clinical assistance to residents and
  9. Actively participate in staff meeting, clinical team meeting, supervision
  10. Continue to upgrade skills by attending relevant training and workshops.
  11. Participate on at least one CQI committee
  12. Provide mental health services to clients diagnosed with co-occurring disorders, including but not limited to assessment, treatment planning, individual and group therapy, and crisis intervention
  13. Maintain professionalism, ethical conduct and appropriate boundaries at all times while delivering direct services to clients or representing the agency in accordance with agency standards and substance abuse best practices.

Qualifications:

  • LCADC, CADC or MA/MSW/ with an LAC/LSW
  • 5 years’ experience in addictions treatment program; thorough understanding of the multiple needs of the substance use disorder population and evidence-based treatment services.
  • If no LCADC/CADC must be obtained three years from the date of hire.
