The Credential Coordinator manages the credentialing and privileging process for healthcare providers within the hospital. This role ensures that all medical staff and providers maintain current, valid, and compliant credentials, licenses, certifications, and privileges by regulatory standards and hospital policies.
Key Responsibilities:
Collect, review, and verify healthcare providers' credentials, including licenses, certifications, education, training, and work history.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date provider files and documentation within the credentialing database.
Screen applications and supporting documentation to verify eligibility.
Facilitate the initial appointment, reappointment, and privilege requests for medical staff.
Coordinate with medical staff, human resources, licensing boards, and other relevant entities to obtain and verify necessary credentials.
Identify discrepancies and conduct follow-ups.
Present applications to Facility Leadership.
Ensure compliance with accreditation standards (e.g., CIHQ, NCQA, & state regulations).
Monitor expiration dates of licenses and certifications, sending timely reminders for renewal.
Prepare and process credentialing reports and documentation for audits and inspections.
Collaborate with the medical staff office and other departments to streamline credentialing processes.
Maintain confidentiality of all credentialing and provider information.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent; bachelor's degree preferred.
2-5 years of credentialing experience with hospital medical staff
Strong experience in healthcare credentialing or medical staff services.
Knowledge of healthcare regulations, accreditation standards, and licensing requirements.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Proficiency in credentialing software and Microsoft Office Suite.
