Summary:

The Credit Analyst I supports the bank's lending and credit administration functions by analyzing borrower financial information, assessing creditworthiness, and preparing comprehensive credit presentations for loan approval. This role is responsible for spreading and analyzing financial statements, completing credit write-ups, identifying and documenting policy exceptions, and ensuring loan requests are presented accurately and transparently in accordance with bank policy and regulatory requirements. The Credit Analyst I also assists with annual credit reviews by evaluating updated financial information, monitoring borrower performance, and identifying changes in credit risk. Working closely with Loan Officers, Portfolio Coordinators, and Commercial Loan Administrators, the analyst develops a strong understanding of credit analysis, risk management, and commercial lending practices while contributing to sound credit decisions and portfolio quality.

Responsibilities:

  • Receive loan application packages from Loan Officers and Commercial Loan Administrators and assist in the credit analysis and underwriting of loan requests in accordance with Bank policies and procedures.
  • Review borrower and guarantor financial information to assess creditworthiness, repayment capacity, and overall financial condition.
  • Prepare financial spreads, cash flow analyses, and other underwriting support materials under established guidelines.
  • Assist in the preparation of credit approval presentations, including documenting key financial, collateral, and credit findings.
  • Support the review of guarantor information and loan collateral to ensure completeness and compliance with underwriting requirements.
  • Collaborate with Loan Officers, Portfolio Coordinators, Commercial Loan Administrators, and senior Credit team members throughout the underwriting and approval process.
  • Assist with the analysis required for loan renewals, modifications, and annual credit reviews on assigned relationships.
  • Conduct covenant compliance reviews, financial statement analyses, risk rating updates, and other portfolio monitoring activities for less complex borrowing relationships.
  • Identify missing information and follow up with internal team members to ensure complete and accurate loan packages.
  • Develop knowledge of commercial lending, credit analysis, financial statement interpretation, Bank policies, and regulatory requirements through ongoing training and mentorship.
  • Participate in department projects, process improvement initiatives, and other assignments as requested.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Understand your role as defined by the three lines of defense to maintain a compliance culture that includes risk management processes.

Requirements:

  • Prior banking or credit analysis experience preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Strong understanding of personal and business financial statements, tax returns, and financial analysis concepts preferred.
  • Demonstrated financial analytical skills with the ability to exercise sound judgment and make informed recommendations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively present and explain financial information.
  • Strong customer service orientation with a commitment to providing exceptional support to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple responsibilities in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Exceptional attention to detail with strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently while managing competing priorities and meeting established timelines.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
