Credit Analyst Letter of Credit Operations
Location: Columbus, OH
Work Arrangement: 100% onsite
Schedule: Monday Friday, approximately 8:00 AM 5:00 PM
Overtime: May be required based on business needs
Duration: 6-month contract
Right-to-Hire: Yes temporary-to-permanent opportunity
Pay Rate: $25.00/hr W2

Position Overview
The Credit Analyst will join the Wealth Management Credit Platform Service Support Team within Private Banking Credit Platform Services. The Letter of Credit Center of Excellence supports the documentation and issuance of Letters of Credit for Private Bank clients while maintaining operational, credit, regulatory, and risk controls.
This is an operations-focused position supporting lending activities. The analyst will work primarily with internal business partners rather than directly with clients. Key partners include Front Office, Relationship Management, Credit Risk, Underwriting, Legal, Compliance, Operations, and Global Trade teams.
The role requires strong documentation, time-management, multitasking, attention-to-detail, and communication skills. Banking or Letter of Credit experience is beneficial but not mandatory for candidates with a relevant business background or internship experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support lending activities for Private Bank clients through accurate and timely operational processing.
  • Process the complete lifecycle of Standby Letters of Credit, including:
    • Issuances
    • Amendments
    • Extensions
    • Transfers
    • Cancellations
    • Drawings
    • Billing
  • Review Letter of Credit applications and supporting documentation for completeness, accuracy, and compliance.
  • Validate collateral arrangements, approval conditions, and required documentation before execution.
  • Work with Relationship Managers, Product Advisors, Credit Officers, Underwriting, Legal, Compliance, Operations, and Trade Finance teams.
  • Ensure Letter of Credit transactions comply with:
    • UCP 600
    • ISP98
    • OFAC requirements
    • KYC requirements
    • Internal risk frameworks
    • Bank policies and controls
    • Applicable regulatory requirements
  • Support the setup, maintenance, and monitoring of credit facilities.
  • Coordinate collateral reviews and approvals before Letter of Credit issuance.
  • Partner with Credit and Underwriting teams to ensure facilities are approved, established, and properly linked within internal systems.
  • Monitor transaction queues and service-level requirements to ensure timely completion.
  • Investigate and resolve documentation discrepancies, processing exceptions, and inquiries from internal partners.
  • Maintain complete and accurate transaction records and audit trails.
  • Monitor upcoming expirations, renewals, collateral sufficiency, and outstanding documentation.
  • Support periodic credit and portfolio reviews.
  • Manage multiple assignments and changing priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with team members across different departments.
  • Identify opportunities to improve, automate, and standardize operational processes.
  • Support internal audits, regulatory examinations, control testing, and remediation activities.
  • Produce reports covering transaction volumes, service levels, outstanding exceptions, and operational risks.
  • Escalate complex transactions, documentation issues, operational risks, and control gaps appropriately.

Required Qualifications
  • Experience or relevant exposure in one or more of the following:
    • Credit operations
    • Banking operations
    • Lending operations
    • Loan or credit documentation
    • Trade finance
    • Letters of Credit
    • Credit monitoring and review
  • Strong documentation-review and recordkeeping skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Strong time-management, organization, and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to multitask and manage multiple transactions or work queues.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate with different internal teams.
  • Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving abilities.

  • Experience working in a controlled, regulated, or risk-sensitive environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly:
    • Excel
    • Word
    • PowerPoint
  • Ability to work onsite in Columbus five days per week.
Education and Early-Career Candidates
  • A bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, Commerce, Economics, Accounting, or a related field is preferred.
  • Recent graduates may be considered.
  • Recent graduates should demonstrate a business-related educational background, relevant coursework, banking exposure, or internship experience.
  • Candidates without professional banking experience should show transferable experience involving documentation, financial analysis, risk, compliance, lending, or transaction processing.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Two to five or more years of banking, credit, lending, trade-finance, or operational experience.
  • Experience with Standby Letters of Credit.
  • Knowledge of Letter of Credit products, processing requirements, or international trade rules.
  • Experience using trade-finance or credit-processing systems.
  • Familiarity with credit facilities, collateral, or the credit lifecycle.
  • Experience reviewing legal documents, credit approvals, or operational procedures.
  • Experience managing high-volume transaction queues.
  • Experience supporting lending activities.
  • Experience collaborating with Front Office, Credit, Underwriting, Legal, Compliance, Operations, or Trade Finance teams.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
