About the Platform

Galvanize''s Credit and Capital Solutions strategy expects to deploy up to $1.8 billion of capital over the next three years with a goal of meeting a growing need for flexible capital across power, manufacturing, efficiency, and resilience. The private credit strategy provides solutions including bespoke non-bank and special situations credit, structured preferred equity, and opportunistic capital to companies and projects at critical inflection points. Target geographies include the U.S., Canada, and Europe, with a focus on the full energy transition value chain, including utility-scale and distributed renewable energy, grid and storage solutions, fleet electrification, energy efficiency, and advanced materials manufacturing.

About the Role

Galvanize is seeking an Investment Associate for its Credit and Capital Solutions platform. The ideal candidate will have prior investment banking, private credit, direct lending, leveraged finance, project finance, energy or power, or other relevant transaction execution experience, with a demonstrated track record of financial modeling, underwriting, due diligence, and deal execution. Candidates should possess strong analytical capabilities, experience evaluating complex investment opportunities, and exposure to credit investing, lending, or structured finance. An interest in energy, power, infrastructure and sustainability is also important.. This person will gain experience investing across the capital structure including first lien direct lending, subordinated capital (including mezzanine debt and preferred equity), and structured and opportunistic investments. Core responsibilities will include deal origination support, deal screening, due diligence, financial modeling and analysis, drafting investment committee materials, and closing for new deals and follow-on investments. Additionally, the Associate may also support portfolio management, impact analyses, and investor partnerships functions. This is an exciting opportunity to help expand a growing platform within a well-established and successful firm. The Associate will be based in the New York office.

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Support deal underwriting and execution from start to finish - building financial models and analyses, conducting deal screening, completing diligence, writing and developing heads-up and investment committee materials, closing and funding of deals, and continued monitoring of portfolio companies across energy, power, sustainability, and energy infrastructure
  • Participate in, manage and lead investment diligence processes including but not limited to management calls, articulation of investment thesis, market analysis, technology maturity assessment, contract review, legal document review, management team assessment, and reference calls
  • Participate in and/or lead financial diligence, including analysis of financial statements, cash flows, and financial modeling
  • Assist structuring, drafting and negotiation of term sheets and investment documentation
  • Develop clear and compelling underwriting materials, investment memoranda, and other internal and external presentations for proposed and executed investments
  • Support deal origination process, including initial deal screening, transaction screening and analyses, and participating in management calls
  • Collaborate closely with colleagues across credit, impact, science and technology, investor relationships, legal, and other investment teams to evaluate investment opportunities

Required Qualifications and Competencies

  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably with a major in finance, economics or related field
  • 2-4 years of experience in investment banking, direct investing, private credit or private equity required, with a strong preference for experience in credit, energy, power, and/or infrastructure (industry-focus not required)
  • Strong financial background, including financial analysis, Excel and financial modeling skills with experience developing, building and managing financial models preferably involving structured debt/equity investments
  • Track record of striving for and achieving excellence

Compensation and Benefits

  • Estimated base salary, depending on experience: $125,000 - $150,000
  • Role is also eligible for an annual performance-based bonus in addition to the base salary
