CREDIT ASSOCIATE - Food & Beverage

WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY The Credit Associate is responsible for supporting credit analysis and portfolio management activities. This role involves assisting with credit data analysis, underwriting, and portfolio review activities, including facilitating credit risk recommendations. The Credit Associate may be assigned a book of lower-complexity loans and relationships. The Credit Solutions Associate collaborates with team members to ensure effective credit operations. The Credit Solutions Associate helps maintain high standards of credit quality and compliance.

WHAT WILL YOU DO

  • Role Support: Support the underwriting and management of cash-flow and asset-based loans $25.0 million for the national Food & Beverage (F&B) platform across the sponsor and strategic channels.
  • Target Borrower profiles: Both private and public with EBITDA >$10.0 million and Revenue >$200.0 million.
  • Structures typically include: Revolvers, term loans, delayed draw term loans, and CAPEX lines across multiple product lines.
  • Transaction types typically include: Leveraged buyouts, management buyouts, refinances, growth capital, recapitalizations, add-on acquisitions, etc.
  • Underwriting Support: Support due diligence efforts as Agent or Participant for Borrowers across the F&B value chain (i.e., manufacturers, processors, distributors, grocers, etc.).
  • Core competencies include: Historical and projected financial statement analysis, dynamic 3-statement financial modeling, and credit memorandum preparation.
  • Portfolio Monitoring: Support the management of a portfolio of Borrowers across multiple F&B subsectors with various structures, roles, commitments, and risk ratings.
  • Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual reviews covering financial performance, risk ratings, capacity to repay, covenants, etc.
  • Evaluate credit requests to assess creditworthiness and prepare corresponding approval memorandums as applicable.
  • Data Analysis: Analyze credit data, market, and industry reports, trendcards, and prepare credit presentations to support underwriting and portfolio management.
  • Risk Management: Support effective risk management practices, maintaining high standards of credit quality and origination in alignment with the Banks credit risk appetite and compliance with institutional and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with team members to ensure cohesive and effective credit operations. Participate in ad-hoc projects to support the organizations priorities.
  • Learning and Development: Demonstrate a strong desire to learn underwriting and portfolio management skills, actively seeking opportunities for professional growth and development, eventually leading to ownership of a portfolio of credits.

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO SUCCEED Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent in Finance, Business, or related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of progressively increasing credit underwriting and portfolio management experience in relevant industries.

  • Intermediate experience in credit management and lending operations with a strong understanding of risk management principles.
  • Desire to build leadership and coaching skills with the ability to train and develop talent.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively with senior leadership and cross-functional teams.
  • Intermediate analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and make informed decisions.
  • Industry-specific knowledge and expertise.

  • Starting base salary: $34.55 - $55.19 per hour. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location.
  • This job is eligible for bonus and/or commissions.
