Vaco is hiring for a Credit Manager role in Greenville, Troy or Tipp City OH.

Direct Hire

Salary: 70-90,000/yr


Job Summary

The Credit Manager is responsible for overseeing the credit granting process, including evaluating the creditworthiness of potential customers, managing existing accounts, and ensuring compliance with established credit policies and procedures. This role will collaborate closely with Sales, Finance, and Operations to mitigate credit risk while supporting overall business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Credit Analysis

  • Evaluate the creditworthiness of potential customers by analyzing financial statements, credit reports, payment history, and other relevant information.
  • Assess credit risk and establish appropriate credit limits based on company policies, customer profiles, and industry standards.
  • Monitor customer accounts and identify potential credit risks or emerging issues.

Credit Policy & Risk Management

  • Develop and implement credit risk policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure prudent and effective credit decisions.
  • Continuously review and update credit policies to reflect changing business needs, market conditions, and risk considerations.
  • Provide guidance and training to staff on credit policies, procedures, and best practices.

Portfolio Management

  • Monitor the credit portfolio to identify and address potential risks while maintaining appropriate diversification and exposure levels.
  • Review and approve credit decisions made by the lending or credit team to ensure alignment with established risk parameters and credit standards.
  • Identify trends and opportunities to improve portfolio performance and reduce credit risk.

Reporting & Analysis

  • Prepare regular reports on portfolio growth, performance, credit exposure, and risk.
  • Analyze credit data to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement.
  • Provide recommendations and credit insights to senior management.
  • Monitor economic indicators, customer trends, and industry conditions to anticipate changes in credit risk.

Team Management

  • Lead and manage the credit department, providing direction, coaching, and support to team members.
  • Foster a strong credit culture focused on sound decision-making, risk management, accountability, and customer service.
  • Establish performance expectations and support the professional development of the credit team.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field.
  • MBA or professional certification such as CFA or CPA preferred.
  • Previous experience in commercial lending, credit analysis, financial analysis, credit management, or a related field.
  • Experience managing credit portfolios and/or leading a credit team preferred.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Strong analytical and financial analysis skills, with the ability to interpret financial statements and assess credit risk.
  • Strong understanding of credit principles, risk management, and financial markets.
  • Proficiency with financial analysis software, credit databases, and Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements and credit management best practices.
  • Strong communication, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
