Who we are looking for

State Street’s Global Credit Finance (GCF) business is seeking a senior credit leader to serve as Managing Director – Subscription Finance, NAV Lending, Fund of Hedge Funds Lending, and Commercial Real Estate Lending. This role is responsible for providing strategic leadership and market‑driven execution across these four assets classes.

This role sits at the intersection of business strategy, risk management, and client delivery, ensuring that Subscription Finance, NAV Lending, Fund of Hedge Funds Lending, and Commercial Real Estate Lending activities are executed in line with firm risk appetite, regulatory expectations, and internal governance frameworks. The Managing Director will drive portfolio strategy, market engagement, and disciplined lending execution while partnering closely with internal stakeholders to ensure strong portfolio yields and returns, client alignment, and sustainable growth across strategic alternative asset manager clients.

What you will be responsible for

  • Lead credit strategy, execution, and portfolio oversight across Subscription Finance, NAV Lending, Fund of Hedge Funds Lending, and Commercial Real Estate Lending, aligned with firm‑wide objectives.
  • Ensure effective governance, surveillance, and ongoing oversight of the portfolios, including monitoring of performance and risk trends ensuring appropriate underwriting standards, monitoring, and reporting
  • Achieve sustainable growth in U.S. markets, acting as a strategic partner to Private Credit, Private Equity and any other Alts managers and Investment Adviser clients, supporting client engagement and delivery of financing solutions
  • Provide executive oversight of the Commercial Real Estate business, including portfolio positioning, market monitoring, and coordination with firm strategy
  • Partner closely with Enterprise Risk Management, Legal, Compliance, Finance, and Treasury to support effective risk oversight and regulatory alignment.
  • Serve as a senior representative of the business in credit committees and governance forums, ensuring timely escalation and transparency.
  • Provide senior leadership in market discussions, client meetings, and internal forums, providing thought leadership on Fund Finance markets and portfolio trends.
  • Oversee balance‑sheet deployment across covered businesses, aligning capital usage with both strategic priorities, client demand and risk appetite.
  • Lead and develop credit professionals, promoting strong risk culture, growth mindset, accountability and fostering strong performance culture and talent development.

Education & Preferred Qualifications

  • 15 + years of experience in Fund Finance and Commercial Real Estate within a regulated financial institution
  • Demonstrated ability to build trust and credibly engage with clients to deliver One State Street outcomes
  • Deep understanding of credit markets and capital structures
  • Strong executive judgment, communication skills, and experience engaging with senior management, regulators  and control functions
  • Proven ability to lead teams, engage credibly across a large organization and a range of stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience across multiple credit products or platforms within a large financial institution.
  • Legal Expertise is a plus

Salary Range:

$170,000 - $282,500 Annual

The range quoted above applies to the role in the primary location specified. If the candidate would ultimately work outside of the primary location above, the applicable range could differ.
