Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Creditor & Debtor Rights Principal to join our law firm. As a principal, you will play a key role in leading and expanding our Creditor & Debtor Rights Practice Group, managing high-stakes cases, and providing strategic guidance to clients.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Represent distressed companies in debt restructuring, corporate reorganization, the negotiation of workouts and the prosecution of lender liability claims.
- Represent financial institutions, private equity groups, and hedge funds in a variety of matters affecting their businesses including Ch. 7 and Ch. 11 bankruptcy proceedings, successor liability defense and the defense of preference recovery and other avoidance litigation in bankruptcy proceedings.
- Provide expert legal advice to clients across various industries in complex commercial disputes, such as breach of contract, business torts, shareholder disputes, and fraud claims.
- Manage all aspects of litigation including depositions, mediations, arbitration, settlement negotiations, and trial proceedings in federal and state courts.
- Develop and maintain client relationships by acting as a trusted advisor and offering business-minded legal solutions to address their litigation needs.
- Collaborate with other practice groups within the firm, including employment, corporate, real estate, and estate planning administration, to provide integrated services for clients with multifaceted legal issues.
- Mentor and supervise junior attorneys and legal staff, providing guidance on litigation strategy, case management, and professional development.
- Drive business development efforts by expanding existing client base, identifying new market opportunities, and participating in firm marketing initiatives.
- Contribute to the firm's leadership and strategy by participating in management decisions, practice development, and principal meetings.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Licensed to practice law in Ohio.
- At least 7+ years of experience in commercial litigation with a proven record of success.
- Extensive trial and courtroom experience in federal and state courts.
- Exceptional negotiation and advocacy skills, with a strategic approach to litigation and dispute resolution.
- Strong business acumen with the ability to understand client needs and offer practical solutions.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and client relationship management skills.
- Strong networking and business development skills with a proven ability to attract and retain clients.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
