Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Lead Painter to oversee painting projects, lead crews, and ensure work is completed efficiently, safely, and to the highest quality standards. This role requires both hands-on expertise and leadership ability.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise painting crews (typically 2–10+ employees)
- Coordinate daily job site operations and workflow
- Read and interpret project plans, scopes, and specifications
- Prepare surfaces (scraping, sanding, patching, priming)
- Apply paints, stains, and coatings using brush, roller, and spray equipment
- Ensure projects are completed on time and meet company quality standards
- Train and mentor crew members
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe job site
- Communicate effectively with project managers, clients, and team members
- Inspect completed work and perform touch-ups as needed
Qualifications
- 3+ years of professional painting experience (residential and/or commercial)
- Proven leadership or crew lead experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of painting techniques, materials, and equipment
- Experience with spraying equipment is required
- Ability to manage time, crews, and multiple tasks efficiently
- Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs. and work on ladders/scaffolding/lifts
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- OSHA/safety knowledge is a plus
