The District Attorneys Office is currently seeking qualified individuals to fill one (1) Crime Analyst vacancy.
The position in this classification is located in the District Attorney's Office Bureau of Investigations, reporting to a Lieutenant of Inspectors. The incumbent in this class is a non-sworn employee who works closely with attorneys, legal assistants, and investigative personnel to accomplish the mission of the District Attorney's Office.
Crime Analysts are responsible for collecting and analyzing criminal intelligence data to determine crime patterns and predict future crime trends. Incumbents work as an integral part of Investigative teams to help identify suspects and leads and provide investigative support for criminal prosecution. Assigned work involves extensive and critical reading of incident reports, supplements, and forensic reports, using internal and external data sources to mine crime and suspect information. This position requires initiative, independent judgment, and decision-making skills.
The Sheriffs Office may also use the eligible list from this recruitment to fill future vacancies as well.

The eligible list established from this recruitment may remain in effect for six (6) months and may also be used for countywide openings.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in criminal justice, science, social science, mathematics or a closely related field.
Experience: Two (2) years full time experience in a law enforcement related field which included the collection, compilation and analysis of crime data
Substitution for Experience: Possession of a master's degree in the field of study noted above may be substituted for one (1) year of the required experience.

CONVICTION HISTORY
After you receive a conditional job offer, you will be fingerprinted, and your fingerprints will be sent to the California Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). The resulting report of your conviction history (if any) will be used to determine whether the nature of your conviction conflicts with the specific duties and responsibilities of the job for which you have received a conditional job offer. If a conflict exists, you will be asked to present any evidence of rehabilitation that may mitigate the conflict, except when federal or state regulations bar employment in specific circumstances. DISASTER SERVICE WORKER
All Contra Costa County employees are designated Disaster Service Workers through state and local law. Employment with the County requires the affirmation of a loyalty oath to this effect. Employees are required to complete all Disaster Service Worker-related training as assigned, and to return to work as ordered in the event of an emergency.
