Description of Job

The salary range for this position is:

$35.63 - $40.84 Hourly

$2,850.46 - $3,267.23 Biweekly

The Fraud Investigations Team (FIT) exists to receive, identify, and investigate reports of fraud and fraudulent activity within the Family and Medical Leave Insurance (FAMLI) Division, including handling incoming referrals and tips regarding allegations of fraud related to the FAMLI program. This work unit conducts thorough investigations (including interviews of parties or witnesses, review of relevant documents and reports, and any other lawful investigative techniques); evidence collection, review, and preparation; prepares and presents both regulatory and criminal reports of investigation to statewide District Attorney's Offices, the State of Colorado Attorney General's Office and/or the FAMLI Division Hearings unit, seeking monetary or other relief authorized by the FAMLI Act or subsequent regulations, assessment of monetary amounts owed (fines & interest) and/or any other remedies approved by the Division. Additionally, this work unit, as required, provides investigative and logistical assistance to local, state, and federal agencies and provides a base of specialized expertise upon which other law enforcement and regulatory agencies may draw.

This position, Criminal Investigator III (Working Title: Fraud Investigator), exists to receive, identify, and investigate reports of criminal and regulatory violations affecting the administration of the Family and Medical Leave Insurance (FAMLI) program within the Colorado Department of Labor & Employment (CDLE).

Duties primarily consist of regulatory and criminal investigations of FAMLI-related fraudulent activity with criminal case referrals to District Attorney Offices (DAs) or the CO Attorney General's Office (AG's), and the FAMLI Hearings Unit for regulatory investigation of fraudulent/criminal activity concerning the FAMLI program. The position provides investigations of fraud/forgery, waste, abuse, and other misconduct related to this program. Work includes identifying suspects, interviewing witnesses, examining Complainant and Respondent records, verifying the authenticity of documents, collecting evidence, preparing affidavits for court orders for the production of records, writing comprehensive reports of investigations, and presenting the cases/investigations for prosecution/hearing.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience Only:

Six (6) years of relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned to this position. Such as law enforcement, fraud investigations, other regulatory and criminal investigations experience.

OR

Education and Experience:

A combination of related education, formalized apprenticeship program, certification, and/or relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned equal to six (6) years
