    Job Description:

    The GBI follows the Federal statute regarding drug use and is a drug-free workplace. Although some locations (domestic and foreign) have legalized recreational drug use,
     applicants who use or have used drugs or controlled substances will be subject to disqualification from employment with the GBI.

    • Marijuana Usage - Candidates that have used marijuana or cannabis in any form (natural or synthetic) and in any location (domestic or foreign) within (1) year preceding the date of application, will be disqualified.
    • Other Drugs - Candidates that have used any drugs other than marijuana, within10 years preceding the date of application, will be disqualified.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    The Georgia Crime Information Center (GCIC) is responsible for the preparation and completion of audit reports which contain findings, evaluations, and recommendations for necessary correction action in accordance with the Rules of the GCIC Council, other relevant Georgia code sections and pertinent federal statutes and regulations. The position requires knowledge of state and federal laws, as well as rules and regulations governing criminal justice information.

    Criminal Justice Compliance Specialists conduct triennial on-site and electronic audits of criminal justice agencies that access state and federal criminal justice information for criminal and non-criminal justice purposes. Duties also include developing and presenting training to assist with compliance. This position involves extensive travel throughout the State of Georgia.

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTONS:

    • Good time management and multi-tasking skills.
    • Ability to work independently and execute job responsibilities with minimal supervision.
    • Critical thinking skills.
    • Utilizing presentation applications (PowerPoint, Teams, or other presentation tools).
    • Experience and commitment to providing professional customer support.
    • Knowledge of Laws, policies, and regulations related to the Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) network.
    • Must be able to use Microsoft Office Suite software such as Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
    • Experience in the creation of lesson plans and power point presentations.
    • Must successfully complete the Georgia Peace Officer Standard Training (POST) Instructor Certification.
    • Strong verbal, oral, and written communication skills. 
    • Must be able to facilitate understanding and insight through the skillful exchange of information with others.
    • Must be comfortable communicating through a variety of channels including written and verbal.
    • Must be able to communicate with technical and non-technical audiences within and outside of GBI. 
    • Must be able to travel statewide travel and operate a state vehicle. A valid Georgia driver’s license is required.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    The incumbent will occasionally be required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; stoop and kneel. Occasionally light lifting/or moving supplies may be required.  

    WORK ENVIRONMENT:

    This position requires the incumbent to work independently in an office setting, which may include shared office space with other professionals. 


     

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    Criminal Justice Compliance Specialist 1 ($46,541)

    Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.

    Criminal Justice Compliance Specialist 2 ($48,868)

    Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university AND one year of experience at the lower-level Criminal Justice Compliance Spec 1 (RCP100).

    Criminal Justice Compliance Specialist 3 ($52,533)

    Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university AND one year of experience at the lower-level Criminal Justice Compliance Spec 2 (RCP101) OR four years of experience at a level equivalent to a compliance auditor.

    Note: An equivalent combination of education and job specific experience that provided the knowledge, experience and competencies required to successfully perform the job at the level listed may be substituted on a year-over-year basis.

    Preferred Qualifications

    In addition to the minimum qualifications, preference will be given to applicants that possess two (2) or more years of experience in two (2) or more of the following areas:

    • Experience as a CJIS Network Operator (CNO).
    • Experience as a Terminal Agency Coordinator (TAC).
    • Experience in the use of GBI/GCIC applications and programs.
    • Experience in using Microsoft Office 365 such as Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and Word.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    High school diploma/GED and four (4) years of experience in a job-related area and one (1) year of experience at the lower level Criminal Justice Compliance Spec 2 (RCP101); or four (4) years of experience at a level equivalent to a compliance auditor.
