Job Responsibilities
The South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy (Academy), Mobile Training Unit (MTU), is seeking an instructor to research, develop, and deliver law enforcement training to basic and advanced officers, investigators, and other assigned groups.
Duties include:
Develops and updates lesson plans, researches curriculum content, and provides instruction regarding law enforcement practices and procedures for the MTU program.
Prepares and updates student material. Maintains currency, accuracy, and relevancy of existing programs and training material in assigned areas of responsibility. Ensures current training materials support the necessary job-specific knowledge, skills, and abilities associated with the specific program task analysis.
Observes and participates in the instruction of the Basic Law Enforcement (BLE) program to ensure consistency with field instruction.
Performs law enforcement duties during times of critical incidents, whether natural or man-made crisis events requiring sworn personnel response. Required to do "ride-alongs" and assist other law enforcement agencies, as needed.

Extensive knowledge of contemporary LE principles, practices, techniques, tactics, and methods.
Able to research and develop comprehensive lesson plans in assigned training areas.
Responsible for controlling all training delivery in assigned areas of instruction.

Ability to speak and write clearly and effectively; analyze problems and make appropriate recommendations.
Able to coordinate the work of students and enforce student discipline in a fair, but firm manner.

Adhere to the chain-of-command and agency policies/procedures.
