As a Crisis Call Center Specialist (CCCS), you’ll play a vital role within a Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP), working at the intersection of behavioral health and emergency response. You’ll collaborate with 988, 911, law enforcement, EMS, and community providers to ensure individuals in crisis receive timely, trauma-informed, and clinically appropriate care. High-Impact Clinical Work: Provide real-time intervention during moments of critical need Integrated Public Safety Collaboration: Work alongside 911, law enforcement, EMS, and mobile crisis teams Clinical Autonomy + Team Support: Make expert clinical decisions while supported by a multidisciplinary team Meaningful Outcomes: Help divert individuals from unnecessary hospitalization or incarceration Professional Growth: Expand expertise in crisis intervention, risk assessment, and system coordination What You’ll Do Answer 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline calls and provide immediate, compassionate, trauma-informed support Conduct suicide risk assessments, safety planning, and de-escalation using evidence-based practices Make critical decisions about care coordination, including when to involve 911, EMS, mobile crisis, or emergency departments Serve as a key connector between behavioral health and public safety systems, ensuring seamless care transitions Engage individuals and families to connect them with the least restrictive, most appropriate level of care Collaborate with community providers, law enforcement, and hospital systems to strengthen crisis response outcomes Maintain accurate, timely documentation aligned with 988 and PSAP standards Participate in clinical supervision, debriefings, and ongoing training to support professional growth Who You Are You are a clinician who: Is energized by fast-paced, high-stakes environments Brings confidence, compassion, and clarity to difficult conversations Values collaboration with both clinical and public safety partners Is committed to equity, cultural responsiveness, and trauma-informed care Wants to have a direct, measurable impact on individuals in crisis Qualifications Required: Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or related field Active Missouri licensure (LCSW, LPC, or equivalent) in good standing Experience working with high-acuity or crisis populations Strong clinical judgment and decision-making skills Knowledge of behavioral health and community-based services Preferred: Experience with 988 Lifeline, crisis hotlines, mobile crisis, or PSAP/911 settings Substance use treatment experience Bilingual or multilingual What Success Looks Like Providing calm, confident guidance during high-risk crisis calls Making sound clinical decisions under pressure Building trust quickly with individuals in distress Collaborating effectively across multiple systems Ensuring every caller experiences respect, dignity, and hope Work Environment This role operates in a 24/7 Public Safety Answering Point, requiring flexibility for evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
