We are hiring for a nocturnist Advanced Practice Provider position. A nocturnist role requires working exclusively overnight shifts. Candidates must be comfortable with a nocturnal schedule and possess the ability to deliver exceptional patient care during nighttime hours.

Local Team Collaboration

We take pride in our established team at SSM Health DePaul Hospital providing 24/7 care to patients in the 20-bed medical and 18-bed surgical ICU.

Our team is comprised of practicing Intensivist physicians and Advanced Practice Providers with a diverse mix of ICU clinical practice time. Within the hospital, our team works closely with the multi-disciplinary team within the unit to collaboratively care for patients.

Qualifications

  • Board-certified acute care trained Nurse Practitioner with unrestricted license.
  • Prior ICU APP practice experience - minimum of 2-3 years post-training ICU practice time.
  • Ability to independently assess, examine, and provide care to critically ill patients in the ICU, including demonstrating procedural competency.
  • Ability to work as a team member.
  • A Missouri state license is preferred.
  • Authorized to work in the U.S.

Scheduling

  • 12 12-hour night shifts per month.
  • Block shift scheduling generally 4-5 day stretches.
  • The schedule is managed as equitably as possible, providing APPs with a great work-life balance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality, comprehensive care to medical, surgical, cardiac, neuro, and cardiovascular ICU patients.
  • Present and participate in daily multidisciplinary rounds in the ICU.
  • Work autonomously and multitask within the critical care team.
  • Commit to excellence in the clinical service and demonstrate problem-solving abilities necessary to best serve our patients.
  • Must provide evidence of procedural competence with the following procedures: central lines, arterial lines, intubations, and chest tubes.
  • EMR is Epic.

  • Practicing: Continue your career as a practicing clinician by continually expanding your clinical expertise and delivering exemplary patient care. Develop foundational leadership skills and contribute to organizational excellence by engaging in committees and supporting the implementation of quality improvement initiatives.
  • Single-site Leadership: Assume leadership responsibilities at the practice level as a Lead Advanced Practice Provider, Associate Medical Director, or Medical Director. In these roles, you will oversee clinical teams, collaborate with hospital partners, and ensure both operational and clinical excellence within a single-site setting.
  • Multi-site Leadership: Expand your impact by supporting multiple practices as a Regional or Divisional Lead Advanced Practice Provider. These roles emphasize the recruitment and retention of Advanced Practice Providers and facilitate team integration initiatives.
  • Specialty Leadership: Advance to senior leadership as Chief Advanced Practice Officer where you will collaborate with service line leaders to influence organizational programs and lead initiatives that develop team-based care models on a national scale.
