Legal Entity Ohio Hospital Based Physicians Position Summary Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists prescribe and administer anesthetic intravenous and inhalational medications and solutions following specified methods and procedures to ensure safe, effective anesthesia care. Department Summary The Department of Anesthesia provides anesthesia care for surgical, radiologic, obstetric, and cardiac patients. The department also responds to trauma pages for the emergency room and medical emergency patients throughout the facility, when available. Qualifications Current Ohio RN / APRN license Graduate of a nurse anesthesia education program Current certification by the National Board of Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists Current BLS, ACLS and PALS certification Good physical and mental health Skills Detail oriented Communicate effectively Adaptability to changing work environment or needs Works as a team player Responsibilities Expectations Pre-operative assessment of patients Administration of preanesthetic medications Administer general anesthesia Administer monitored anesthesia care Administer regional anesthesia techniques Placement of peripheral intravenous / arterial catheters Placement of central venous catheters Placement of pulmonary artery catheters Administer blood and/or blood products as necessary Cardiopulmonary resuscitation management Basic and advanced airway management techniques Mechanical ventilation/oxygen therapy Fluid, electrolyte, acid-base management Post anesthesia care Provide airway management along with basic and advanced cardiac life support techniques in emergency situations Working Conditions Department requires 24/7 coverage Variable shifts scheduled to meet department needs Weekend and holiday shifts rotated On call coverage assigned as needed Lunch periods and breaks are coordinated with staff to maintain adequate coverage Hazardous Exposure Category Category I - Includes tasks that involve exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues. All procedures or other job-related tasks that involve an inherent potential for spills or splashes of, or mucous membrane or skin contact with blood, body fluids or tissues are Category I tasks.
