Cross Categorical SPED/Autism Teacher

Instruct, monitor and adjust teaching activities to assure student achievement; develop curriculum; plan and implement teaching strategies; and collaborate with colleagues in a team environment. Collect and report relevant academic and behavioral data to measure progress toward IEP goals and adjust programming to ensure student success. Communicate effectively with students, parents, and co-workers. The successful candidate will provide tolerance and extend understanding and nurturing to all students. Must demonstrate the ability to process, interpret, and apply IEP and evaluation documentation, and effectively communicate IEP-related information with students, families, and multidisciplinary staff.

Responsibilities:

• Follow daily schedules aligned with student IEPs to ensure all identified needs, accommodations, and services are consistently implemented.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for families, teachers, and students regarding IEPs, behavioral needs, and instructional or behavioral strategies.
• Demonstrate the ability to read, understand, and apply IEPs and evaluation documents, ensuring compliance and appropriate service delivery.
• Communicate regularly with team members regarding changes, student observations, progress, and concerns; initiate family contact when necessary.
• Maintain ongoing collaboration with special education and general education staff to support student success.
• Actively listen to and consider suggestions, observations, and past experiences from colleagues and families.
• Demonstrate flexibility and openness in responding to student needs and team input.
• Regularly monitor IEP and evaluation due dates for students on caseload to ensure compliance and proactive planning.
