Description

Solebury School (New Hope, PA) seeks a Cross Country Assistant Coach for the Fall 2026 season. The assistant coach reports directly to the head coach and collaborates with all program stakeholders: Director of Athletics, head coach, other assistant coaches, student-athletes, faculty/staff and parents. The position assists with the management of all aspects of the varsity Cross Country program.Essential Functions Assists the head coach in program organization, practice planning, game preparation/management, and overall student-athlete development following Solebury School's mission statement and core valuesCommunicates clear expectations--consistent with the head coach--to student-athletes and parentsSupports the head coach in encouraging a sense of belonging for all team members who are a part of the program through building, with and among the team, relationships that are based on the development of their character as well as their athletic abilityRespectful of final decisions made by the head coach; any disagreements about philosophy or decisions should be done away from the student-athletes either before or after practice or competitionKeeps the Director of Athletics and/or Assistant Director of Athletics/Athletic Trainer informed of problems and/or concernsSuccessfully completes online coaching courses on concussions, heat illness, and sudden cardiac arrest through NFHS Learning CenterOther duties as assignedQualificationsVarsity high school playing experience required; college playing experience preferredExcellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skillsPositive role model, mentor, and teacher of the sportMust provide instruction to instill a strong work ethic, responsibility, teamwork, sportsmanship, self-discipline, leadership, and self-confidence in student-athletesAn understanding of the nature of independent schoolsPhysical Requirements and Work EnvironmentMust be available for all practices and competitions during the coaching seasonMust be able to occasionally lift up to 30 lbsMust be able to drive a school van safelyPlease submit resume and cover letter to Staci Freer, Special Projects Manager.
