Cross-Trained Medical Assistant

Location: Tulsa, OK
Pay: $20.00–$22.00/hour DOE
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM
Employment Type: Full-Time, Temp-to-Hire

Position Summary

A private medical practice in Tulsa is seeking a polished, personable, and experienced Cross-Trained Medical Assistant. This role combines clinical, administrative, and patient-facing responsibilities in a small, professional practice. The ideal candidate is organized, discreet, dependable, comfortable working independently, and committed to providing an exceptional patient experience.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Greet patients and provide a warm, professional experience
  • Answer incoming calls and respond to patient questions
  • Schedule and coordinate appointments
  • Assist with check-in and check-out
  • Room patients, obtain vital signs, and document medical histories
  • Review and update medication lists and patient information
  • Prepare exam rooms and assist the provider with examinations and procedures
  • Enter and coordinate laboratory, imaging, and other medical orders
  • Track outstanding orders and follow up on results
  • Request, obtain, scan, organize, and maintain outside medical records
  • Assist with referrals and coordination of care
  • Communicate with pharmacies, laboratories, imaging centers, specialists, and other medical offices
  • Maintain accurate patient charts and medical documentation
  • Maintain HIPAA compliance and strict patient confidentiality
  • Provide general front-office and clinical support as needed

Phlebotomy is not required.

Qualifications / Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Medical Assistant certification preferred
  • 3+ years of Medical Assistant experience in a private physician practice preferred
  • Experience with both front-office and clinical responsibilities
  • Prior EMR/EHR experience is required, even though the practice currently uses paper charts
  • Strong computer and technology skills
  • Experience with medical records, referrals, orders, and outside records
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative
  • Professional appearance, demeanor, and judgment
  • Stable employment history and interest in a long-term opportunity

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a small private or concierge medical practice
  • Senior MA, Lead MA, Clinical Coordinator, or similar experience
  • Experience coordinating care with specialists and outside medical offices

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

The successful candidate should be warm, professional, patient-focused, organized, dependable, and detail-oriented. Must be able to multitask, manage changing priorities, communicate effectively with patients and healthcare professionals, and recognize what needs to be done without constant direction.

Physical Requirements

Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, and move throughout the office during the workday. Must be able to perform routine patient-care activities and handle typical medical-office supplies.

Work Environment

Small, professional private medical practice with a personalized, patient-centered environment. This is not a high-volume setting and requires someone comfortable wearing multiple hats and contributing wherever needed.

Additional Requirements

Employment is contingent upon completion of required background screening and any other applicable pre-employment requirements. No weekends, evenings, or on-call requirements are expected.
