The School District of Whitefish Bay is seeking a dedicated Crossing Guard to ensure the safe passage of students, staff, and community members to and from school. This role is essential to our community's commitment to safety, requiring a proactive individual to manage traffic and pedestrian flow at designated intersections.
Schedule:
Morning, midday, and afternoon shifts (approx. 7:30-8:30, 10:45-12:15, 2:45-3:45).
Key Responsibilities:
Safety Coordination: Assist students and pedestrians to ensure safe crossing.
Hazard Mitigation: Intervene in potentially dangerous situations to ensure safety.
Communication: Enforce school policy and safety procedures with pedestrians.
Reporting: Communicate safety incidents or behavioral concerns to school administration.
Equipment Maintenance: Maintain and utilize provided safety gear (signs, vests).
Requirements:
Ability to work all three designated, daily shifts.
Strong attention to detail and safety.
Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision and utilizing good time management skills.
Must be 18 years of age
Must possess stamina to stand for long periods of time, mobility to escort children across streets; ability to work out of doors in all weather conditions and with exposure to traffic; vision to read printed materials and license plates, and hearing and speech to communicate in person.
