CROSSING GUARDDEPARTMENT: PUBLIC SAFETYJOB CLASSIFICATION: PART TIMEPAY GRADE PT3PAY GRADES LINKGENERAL PURPOSE Under the general supervision of a sergeant from the Public Safety Department, responsible for safeguarding and regulating pedestrian traffic crossings on public streets at an assigned location.  ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSProvides traffic control to ensure the safety of children walking to and from school. Assists with people needing directions.Instruct elementary school children in safe crossing techniques while they are using the crosswalk.Turn "Reduced Speed Zone" lights on and off.Place cones and other required equipment in proper positions at crosswalks when required.Receive annual training as required by the state manual on school crossing zones.Report to the City any unsafe conditions observed at school crosswalks.Must be able to meet attendance and punctuality requirements for this position. Must abide by all city policies and procedures. Must work well with others and be a team player.Performs other duties as assigned.
