JOB SUMMARY:
 
The Respiratory Therapist Technician – CRTT/CRT is an allied health care practitioner who functions under the supervision of a physician and in accordance with Hospital approved procedures and or protocols. This individual is responsible for the administration of pharmacologic, diagnostic, and therapeutic agents related to respiratory care to implement or modify diagnostic regimes, treatment, disease prevention, or pulmonary rehabilitation of patients with deficiencies and abnormalities associated with the cardiopulmonary system.
 
The Respiratory Therapist – CRTT/CRT reports directly to the Respiratory Care Shift Supervisor.
 
 
QUALIFICATIONS:
 
  1. Education:
  1. Associate Degree in Respiratory Therapy.  
 
  1. Licensure/Certification:
  1. Certification (CRT) by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
  2. Must have a valid, current Missouri Respiratory Care Practitioner license.
  3. Must be current with BLS certification.
  4. ACLS required.
 
  1. Work Experience:
  1. No work experience beyond educational clinical experience required.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES/JOB DUTIES:
 
  1. Therapeutic use of medical gases, air\oxygen apparatus, humidification and aerosol administration devices, and ventilatory assistance\control equipment.
 
  1. Administration of aerosolized medication, breathing exercises, chest physiotherapy, postural drainage, and airway suction treatments.
 
  1. Application of FIO2 and SpO2 analysis and monitoring equipment.
 
  1. Performs Pulmonary Function Testing. 
 
  1.  Performs Nocturnal Desaturation Study and scans for physician interpretation.
 
  1.  Performance of cardiopulmonary resuscitation, airway establishment, and airway maintenance. 
 
  1.  Completion of all clinical, non-clinical, documentation, and charging procedures in accordance with Hospital and Departmental procedures.
 
8. Perform other duties as required.
