Position Summary

Columbia University School of Nursing is seeking to hire one short-term casual student research assistant to provide support for several NIH-funded projects focusing on primary care, the healthcare workforce, and the care and outcomes of older adults with chronic diseases, including dementia.

The selected candidate will report directly to the Principal Investigator and collaborate with other researchers to accomplish key research tasks. The candidate will work closely with the team to perform/maintain analyses in SAS or R software.

Additional hours may be available, with a limit of 20 hours per week, depending on project needs.

Responsibilities

• cleaning and preparing data, preferably using SAS or R;
• helping with data management and analysis;
• assisting with literature reviews, grants, manuscripts, and presentation preparation;
• participating in research-related meetings;
• performing other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a graduate program (MS, MPH or PhD) in public health, statistics, social work, or related field;
• Knowledge of/experience working in statistics;
• Experience with R or SAS;
• Experience with research projects;
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills;
• Solid analytical, writing, and data management skills;
• Solid experience with data management.

Preferred Qualifications

• A background and/or experience in health-related research, epidemiology, or biostatistics is preferred.
