CSIF Communications Internship - Summer 2027

JOB SUMMARY: The communications intern helps develop strategies focused on supporting farmers as they raise livestock responsibly and successfully. From the office to the field, the communications intern acquires hands-on experience in agriculture, journalism, public relations, marketing, social media, event management, and much more. This paid internship is full-time from May-August, with potential for the selected applicant to work part-time in the spring/fall.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (other duties may be assigned):

·Develop communications content for the CSIF website, Good Farm Neighbor Award, Green Farmstead Partner program, Building Your Livestock Legacy, and social media platforms, etc.

·Help coordinate livestock open houses and Good Farm Neighbor Award events, field days and other events.

·Manage/promote the content and branding of Iowa Ag Intel resources and messaging.

·Work closely with Iowa's nine commodity groups and farm organizations.

·Implement CSIF's values by instilling in farmers the best management practices for animal husbandry, environmental stewardship and community involvement.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE(preference will be given to candidates who meet the following criteria):

·Current undergraduate college student pursuing a degree in an agricultural field such as animal science, ag business/economics, ag communications/marketing/journalism, ag education, etc.

·Background and/or interest in agriculture.

·Significant writing, photography, and social media experience. Videography a plus.

·Experience with Adobe Creative Suite and/or Canva, as well as Microsoft Office programs, among others.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

·Willingness to learn.

·Experience working with marketing activities and events.

·Ability to develop a positive and effective relationship with farmers, press, industry representatives.

·Ability to work independently, and in a team environment. Excellent written and oral communications skills.
