Our patients health is our priority, and we go above and beyond to care in every way possible. Position Statement A successful CSPD Aide/Technician is one who is meticulous and detailed oriented. One should have knowledge of the day-to-day operations of the CSPD ensuring the highest quality sterile processing service, accurate and timely storage and distribution of sterile stocked items. The CSPD Aide/technician will strive to ensure processes meet the regulatory requirements, supports and assists in the development of policies and procedures set forth by the manufactures and best practice. Key Responsibilities: The Aide/Technician will receive and inspect incoming instruments, supplies and equipment. The Aide/Technician is responsible for the process of decontaminating, assembling, disinfecting, and sterilizing NCH departments in a timely manner. The Aide/Technician is the expert in the sterilization process. Understanding the department designated areas according to the functions performed in each area. Maintaining best practice. Understands and supports the rotation of stock according to FIFO (first in first out) Works closely with the operating room to ensure trays/instruments meet the needs for surgery. Accountable for the competency of the equipment used to meet high level disinfection and sterilization. Maintains the care of medical durable equipment for patient care Assists in maintaining and recording all department quality assurance systems activities in accordance with departmental facility policy, DNV, OSHA and other applicable regulatory requirements Supports CSPD policies are in compliance with current standards and practices as prescribed by the Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI). Assures proper preventive maintenance of equipment; establishes maintenance and replacement schedules. Participates in the call schedule Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: High School diploma or GED equivalent Competent in computer functions as designated by CSPD programs Certification will be obtained after 1 year in the department. Focused on continuing education as professional development Excellent communication skills and the ability to remain calm and focused on high-pressure situations.
