Job Duties:
The Child Support Services Parent Locator Specialist is responsible for reviewing case data submitted by county DSS, court and law enforcement officials to determine accuracy and conformity with agency and federal regulations so that each file is brought proper conclusion; and is responsible for providing general child support enforcement services to clients as required or needed.
Following Agency, State, and Federal statues and policies, evaluates a large volume of correspondence and documents received from PACSS generated inquiries and/or other locate systems and accurately sorts and keys received data into the PACSS system with the appropriate level of detail and within prescribed internal and federal deadlines.
Determine and disseminate received correspondence and documents to the appropriate Regional Office for the county the case resides. These correspondences and documents are then scanned into the Child Support On Base system to the correct case file without error.
Once a non-custodial parents address has been verified based on received correspondence and documents, ensures that cases identified by PACSS or themselves are brought to conclusion using the most appropriate closure reason, creates a self-written checklist and schedules the case for the administrative process if appropriate. If not appropriate, documents the reason why.
Contact appropriate staff of the DSS County Office or TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families) Office in need of additional documentation, corrected referrals, or when the locate specialist suspects fraud or non-cooperations.
To understand and exercise data security and confidentiality in the transfer, disclosure and management of all client and employee personal information.
To ensure that personal identifying information (PII) is properly used, accessed, gathered, shared, and disposed. To protect the agency networks and applications by safeguarding systems, equipment and data.
Perform Red Cross shelter duty or other emergency shelter duty/service as directed.
Perform other duties as needed.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
A High School Diploma and four (4) years of clerical, administrative, social work, correctional, business administration, or general business experience.
An Associate Degree and two (2) years of clerical, administrative, social work, correctional, business administration, or general business experience.
A Bachelors Degree may be substituted for the required related experience.
