CSTEM Instructional Student Assistant - Grader
Under supervision ISA provide tutoring, grading or instruction to other CSU students for the majority of their work hours in a given appointment in a given academic department or equivalent administrative unit over the course of an academic term. Assignments are made by academic department or equivalent administrative unit by a specific supervisor at CSUSM. The work may be performed on-campus or, given the current situation, remotely from home.
The CSTEM Dean's Office accepts applications for our ISA positions throughout the Summer 2026 session as part of our ISA Pool. Applications are valid through the Summer 2026.
The duties of an ISA may include:
• Tutor new and continuing students in the course
• Provide grading assistance to the instructor
• Offer assistance to students in the course with homework and preparation for quizzes and exams
• Evaluate student assignments
• Maintain/submit student records
ISA work part-time (typically up to 20 hours per week) during academic periods. Incumbents may have concurrent assignments in other Student Assistant classifications as long as 20 hours are not exceeded in total.
Incumbents must possess the following abilities:
• Ability to learn and perform assigned work
• Ability to work cooperatively with faculty, staff and other students
• Ability to accept responsibility
Minimum qualifications:
Anticipated Pay Rate
The anticipated hiring range is generally at or near the minimum of the appropriate range, commensurate with education and experience.
