Job Summary and Qualifications

Under the clinical direction of a Radiologist and the Director of Imaging Services, the CT Technologist performs computerized axial tomography procedures with minimal supervision. This role involves maintaining equipment and supplies, contributing to departmental planning, and ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards. The CT Technologist provides patient care, fosters teamwork, and demonstrates competency in relevant information systems. 


Major Responsibilities: 

- Perform computerized axial tomography procedures. 
-Maintain equipment and supplies. 
- Contribute to departmental planning and workflow. 
- Ensure patient safety and comfort. 
- Foster staff development and teamwork. 
- Review patient history and pertinent information. 
- Explain procedure and position according to protocol. 
- Administer contrast material, according to physician's request, by means of an existing IV line or by performing venipuncture and placing IV line. 
- Recognize and respond to hypersensitivity or allergic reaction. 
- Select proper technique/protocol to obtain optimal data; perform scan. 
- Evaluate images and send to print network and/or workstation. 
- Organize daily work schedule and respond to emergencies as they occur. 
- Perform daily calibration check on equipment; clean and perform minor maintenance procedures. 
- Log problems and usage; alert supervisor as appropriate. 
-Maintain wall units. 
-Participate in continuing education. 
- Perform on-call duties and/or work variable shifts as assigned to meet department needs. 
-Provide for patient care; comfort, safety and patient confidentiality and report any patient care problems to Director. 
-Demonstrate competency in the use of all applicable aspects of the CIS, RIS, and PACS. 
- Implement/updates department specific policies, procedures and standards with adherence to facility, state, federal and Joint Commission criteria. 
- Provide leadership in development, optimization, and application of system protocols. 
- Communicates on a daily basis all patient related issues or problems that occur. 
- Perform related duties as assigned. 


What qualifications you will need:
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
  • (ARRT-CT) Computed Tomography License Required
  • State of New Hampshire Medical Imaging and Radiation Required  
  • Associate Degree Required
