Position Purpose: All KHI employees are expected to perform their respective tasks and duties in such a way that supports KHI's vision of providing the region's best clinical care and patient service through an environment that fosters respect for others and pride in performance.
Under the direction of the radiologist, performs appropriate diagnostic exams and studies to ensure safe, high-quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities • Performs diagnostic exams and studies to ensure safe, high-quality patient care. • Administers ionizing radiation for the purpose of diagnosis. • Selects exposure factors and initiates exposure. • Uses professional judgment to adapt imaging procedures to ensure quality diagnostic outcomes. • Selects appropriate shielding devices and immobilization devices. • Evaluates lab values prior to administering contrast media. • Assesses factors that may contraindicate the procedure. • Reconfirms patient identification using two unique identifiers (Name and DOB) and verifies procedure requested. • Verifies female patient pregnancy status when appropriate. • Recognizes significant clinical information and historical facts that may impact the examination. • Monitors patient and equipment during procedures and reports concerns or issues immediately to supervisor. • Documents patient and exam occurrences in the appropriate Imaging software database.
Quality of Care • Provides evidence-based care to prevent the development of Healthcare Acquired Conditions and hospital readmissions. • Practices standard precautions during patient contact and while handling contaminated materials. • Complies with CDC hand hygiene guidelines and works to reduce hospital acquired infections and other conditions. • Complies with all regulatory, organizational, and departmental statutes, policies, and procedures.
Patient Satisfaction • Regularly applies AIDET (Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explanation, Thank You) as well as other evidence-based behaviors when taking care of patients. • Shows empathy care to patients and family members present. • Actively helps the department meet the identified Patient Satisfaction goal. • Demonstrates regular attendance and participation at scheduled department and team meetings. • Ensures all licensure, competencies, training, and education are completed in a timely manner. • Participates in and encourages continuous process improvement.
Qualifications • Graduate of Radiologic Technologist program • Current CT registration and licensure by the Arizona Department of Health Services (AZDHS) • Current registration and licensure by the American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT) • American Heart Association BLS • CT certification required within one year of hire
Preferences • Education preferred from an educational institution approved by ARRT, Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JCERT), or the American College of Radiology (ACR).
Special Position Requirements • Exposure Category I: Expected duties have routine potential for exposure to blood, body fluids or tissues. • Other potential hazards: exposure to chemical, biological, and radioactive substances; possible exposure to hostile individuals.
