Overview
As a CT Technologist, youll perform all Computed Tomography (CT) exams. Youll be knowledgeable in the operation of equipment and the procedure/protocols for producing high-quality images to furnish diagnostic information to radiologists. Youll provide quality care for all patients. Youll adhere to all hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Education: Graduate of an Accredited School for Radiologic Technologist, required Licensure/Certification/Registry: ARRT, required IEMA, required CT Certification, preferred BLS CPR certification, required

Responsibilities
Via a team approach, the staff will coordinate the patient flow and schedule of the CT modality. The technologist checks the patients chart or scripts to be sure the exam ordered by the physician matches the requisition received by the department. Use independent professional judgment to assure the exam will clinically evaluate the given diagnosis. Refer discrepancies to radiologist or ordering physician.
Preparation of the room, equipment, medication, and securing supplies needed to perform the exam and maintain a clean and safe environment for the patient. The technologist will adhere to safety standards set forth by the organization in accordance with ACR guidelines (ALARA).
The technologist will explain the procedure and the function of the equipment to the patient as well as answer any questions the patient may have. The technologist will intently review the medical history, to include medication lists and lab results, if performed, prior to starting the procedure. Check patient records for previous pertinent information or procedures, contact radiologist when direction is needed, document appropriate information in the patient record/PACS system.
Performing requested CT exams of appropriate regions in accordance with accepted standards of practice and protocols of the organization and the reading radiologist. Observing patient during procedure, reporting unusual occurrences, and recording patients condition when necessary.
Lifting, moving, and transporting patients via wheelchair or cart when necessary. Maintaining knowledge on the composition, storage, and administration of contrast media agents according to department protocols under guidance and approval of a physician.
Transferring, maintaining basic quality assurance issues, and recalls images from the PACS system. Performing equipment quality checks and troubleshoots when appropriate. Reporting any need for service or repair to appropriate leadership.
Participating in ongoing QA/QC and process improvement programs. Assisting in providing a safe work environment and is dedicated to providing patient satisfaction.
Maintaining continuing education credits in compliance with licensing agency. Maintaining clinical competency. Adhering to all hospital and departmental policies and procedures, including, but not limited to, those regarding infection control, hand hygiene, attendance, and appearance.
Performing other related work as required or requested.
