Performs computerized tomography CT scans and procedures that require independent judgment and a high degree of precision and skill in the application of high technology computerized CT equipment. Be on their team.CT TechnicalObtains patient history to ensure proper procedure is performed.Selects technical factors to optimize image quality.Evaluates images for technical quality and make adjustments as necessary.Reports any malfunctions of equipment to supervisor.Cleans and maintain equipment.Performs equipment calibration and warm-up as needed.Be able to load and select technical factors for Power Injections.Recognition of pathology and adjusts scanning as necessary.Knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy.Department FunctionAssumes responsibility for schedule managementpatient flow.Follows established department protocols. If necessary protocol exam with reading Radiologist.Explains the steps of the CT procedure to the patient.Identifies patients with contrast allergies and pre-medicates according to department policy.Starts IV for contrast media injection.Monitors IV site during Power Injection.Reports any IV infiltrations to EMS HITS.Orients and train new CT staff.Work with Job Shadow students etc. to familiarize them with CT.Includes patient in decisions about their treatment.Responsible for wearing radiation badge and reviewing Landauer.Reports when posted.Coordinates flow of patients in department when necessary.Keeps room adequately stocked with linens and supplies.Patient Data Image MovementVerifies all written orders prior to beginning procedure to ensure proper diagnosis is included.Obtains patient history so that proper procedure may be performed.Completes all steps to ensure that images are on the PACS and ready to read.Enters accurate exam codes so proper charging is accomplished.Is familiar with splitting exams into separate folders.Scans all pertinent documents into patient file in PACS.Films images as requested and ensure quality.Burns images to CDs as requested and verify that images are viewable.Enters accurate exam information into Radiology Information System.Familiar with VitalAW workstations functions.Contribute to the overall effectiveness of the department byCompletes other job-related duties and projects as assigned.ORGANIZATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIESAssociate complies with the following organizational requirementsAttends and participates in department meetings and is accountable for all information shared.Completes mandatory education annual competencies and department specific education within established timeframes.Completes annual employee health requirements within established timeframes.Maintains licensecertification registration in good standing throughout fiscal year.Direct patient care providers are required to maintain current BCLS CPR and other certifications as required by positiondepartment.Consistently utilizes appropriate universal precautions protective equipment and ergonomic techniques to protect patient and self.Adheres to regulatory agency requirements survey process and compliance.Complies with established organization and department policies.Available to work overtime in addition to working additional or other shifts and schedules when required.Commitment to Beacons six-point Operating System referred to as The Beacon WayLeverage innovation everywhere.Cultivate human talent.Embrace performance improvement.Build greatness through accountability.Use information to improve and advance.Communicate clearly and continuously.Education and ExperienceThe knowledge skills and abilities as indicated below are normally acquired through the successful completion of an associate degree or Professional Training via an accredited Radiography program. ARRT certification Indiana State X-Ray License and current CPR certification required and must be maintained. Registered in CT scan with ARRT required within 6 months of eligibility to maintain position. 1-2 years previous experience as a radiographer preferred. Six months CT experience preferred.Knowledge & SkillsRequires current registry with American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.Requires a current license from the State.Familiarity with CT equipment.Familiarity with cross-section anatomy is a must.Limited nursing skills and sterile techniques including intravenous catheter administrations.Working ConditionsWorks in a hospital and patient care environment.Physical DemandsRequires the physical ability and stamina i.e. to walkstand for prolonged periods of time push cartswheelchairs up to 50 pounds to positionlift patients at a maximum of 35 pounds unassisted over 35 pounds requires assistance provide CPR etc. to perform the essential functions of the position.
