here!About the Facility – VA Southern Nevada Healthcare System (VASNHCS)The VA Southern Nevada Healthcare System serves over 230,000 veterans in the Las Vegas metropolitan area and is part of the VA Sierra Pacific Network (VISN 21). The main medical center, located at 6900 N. Pecos Road in North Las Vegas, is a state-of-the-art facility offering comprehensive medical, surgical, and mental health services. The Radiology Service features advanced diagnostic imaging capabilities including CT, MRI, ultrasound, nuclear medicine, and interventional radiology. VASNHCS provides healthcare professionals with access to cutting-edge equipment, a collaborative multidisciplinary environment, and the opportunity to serve those who served our country.
CT Technologist – Responsibilities- Perform computed axial tomography (CT) scanning of head and body, including a variety of complex and specialized diagnostic examinations
- Function as an expert regarding CT software and hardware capabilities, advising radiologists on acquisition parameters for optimum image quality and data collection efficiency
- Image and assist with invasive studies including needle localizations, biopsy procedures, and CT angiography
- Set up the CT room, ensure contrast material and supplies are present, obtain and monitor vital signs, and notify radiologists of significant changes
- Maintain knowledge of cross-sectional human anatomy and its application in spiral and multi-slice CT, including 3-D reconstruction, drainages, biopsies, and peripheral vascular examinations
- Monitor and maintain emergency crash cart, oxygen, and suction apparatus; assist emergency teams in clinical and emergency settings
- Utilize PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System) to archive, transfer, and validate images for radiologic interpretation
- Select and set technical factors for complex examinations; adjust accessory equipment and make exposures for requested procedures
- Perform general diagnostic radiology under the direction of a Radiologist as needed
- Practice radiation safety and adhere to ALARA principles
CT Technologist – Qualifications- Current ARRT registration in Radiography (R) and Computed Tomography (CT)
- Current BLS/BCLS certification (American Heart Association or equivalent)
- Minimum 2 years of CT technologist experience in a hospital or medical center setting
- Proficiency with multi-slice CT scanners and PACS systems
- Knowledge of IV contrast administration, including recognition and management of adverse reactions
- VA or federal healthcare experience preferred but not required
ScheduleMonday – Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM. Overtime and on-call may be required as assigned.
