    Job Summary and Qualifications

    Performs quality diagnostic procedures in an accurate and timely fashion.  Operates CT and X-ray equipment and processes images as required.  Prepares CT room, equipment, supplies and medication as indicated for the procedure/exam being performed.  Practices proper radiation safety techniques on all exams and ensures his/her direct reports and other staff members follow the same precautions.  Maintains safe environment for patients, co-workers and visitors.  Supports and helps achieve the departmental and hospital goals.  Provides services to all age groups (infant to geriatric). 

     PRINCIPAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: 

    • The technologist conducts procedures to provide data to assist in the diagnosis of patients. The position's tasks and responsibilities include: 
    •  Demonstrates responsibility and accountability in the performance of CT scans assessment and reassessment and implementation of the patient's orders in accordance with the department and organizational standards and policies 
    • Completes patient documentation specific to CT scans 
    • Assist Physicians and Radiologist during procedures. 
    • Performs CT scans in a timely and efficient manner. 
    • Positions and prepares patients for exams according to the type of procedure to be performed 
    • Completes appropriate documentation for each study performed 
    • Performs all computer and PACS functions 
    • Observes safety regulations and aseptic practice techniques to protect patients and staff 
    • Maintains thorough knowledge of the scanners and exam protocols in order to ensure the highest quality procedures 
    • Utilizes knowledge of age specific needs of patient in performance of duties and responsibilities.  
    • Orients and mentors new staff members.  
    • Provides a safe environment for administering contrast material.  
    • Assists with transporting patients.  
    • Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required. 
    • Excellent communication and customer service skills.  
    • Ability to work with minimal supervision.  
    • Ability to make independent decisions while maintaining tact, maturity and a positive attitude.  Initiative and judgment required in assuming responsibilities. 
    •  Performs high-level disinfection. 
    • Operates x-ray equipment to make radiographs of designated portions of the body.  
    • Under the supervision of a Radiologist, performs x-ray/fluoro procedures on patients.  
    • Explains procedures to patients and addresses their concerns.  
    • May administer barium salts or other chemical mixtures.  
    • Operates stationary equipment and/or portable equipment used in the Emergency Department, Operating Room and at patient bedside. 
    • Takes pictures and develops images. 

    What qualifications you will need:

    Education/Skills 

    • Technical degree or vocational training 

    Experience 

    • Prefer at least 1 year of CT experience 

    Licenses, Registrations and/or Certification

    • ARRT(R) or ARRT (N)(CT) 
    • MRT 
    • BLS obtained by HCA approved vendor.  
    • ARRT (CT) preferred. 

    Specific Requirements 

    • Must be able to be on an on-call status and respond within thirty (30) minutes of notification.  
    • Must be able to work at the main facility, Saginaw FSED, and Haslet FSED, depending on department needs.
