Job Summary and Responsibilities
As our Special ProcedureTechnologist, you will be a vital clinical professional, applying specialized X-ray energy for patient diagnosis or treatment.
Every day, you'll meticulously perform complex radiological procedures and techniques, producing high-quality images for interpretation by licensed practitioners. You'll ensure patient safety, comfort, and accurate positioning, operating advanced equipment with precision and upholding imaging standards.
To be successful in this role, you'll combine strong technical expertise with exceptional attention to detail, a deep understanding of radiation safety, and a compassionate, patient-focused approach, contributing to accurate diagnoses and effective treatment.
- Uses independent judgment to assess the particular circumstances of each procedure, performs a broad range of imaging procedures to produce diagnostic medical images that meet the acceptability criteria established by the Department Chairman. Measured by no more than 3 formal complaints by radiologists using the Technologist Audit Form.
- Complies with all Performance Expectations of Standard III for Radiologic Technologist 95% - 98% of time.
- Positively identifies patient and correlates procedure with the physician's order.
- Explains procedure to patient and responds to patient questions/concerns before beginning.
- Assures written consents are completed before proceeding when required by hospital standard practice.
- Completes Interdisciplinary Teaching Record (ITR) as appropriate. Measured by record/chart review with 95%-98% compliance.
Job Requirements
Required
- Medical Radiographer: CA.
- Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association.
- Fluoroscopy Radiology Tech.
- Displays competency in general radiology in addition to one other modality: Angiography-Special Procedures, MRI, CT or Mammography.
- Anatomy and physiology for imaging including cross sectional relationships.
- Medical terminology relating to Imaging.
- Currently accepted diagnostic Radiologic procedures.
- Radiation safety requirements and practices for the operator, patient and public.
