Plans and provides engaging, standards-based classroom learning experiences in Career and Technical Education (CTE) Business Education programs. Creates an atmosphere and learning environment that supports the intellectual, academic, social, emotional, and career development of all students while preparing them for postsecondary education and the workforce. Responsible for supervising students in a variety of instructional settings; monitoring and evaluating student progress; communicating effectively with students, parents, staff, business and industry partners, and the community; and developing, selecting, and modifying instructional plans and materials to meet the diverse needs of learners. Maintains appropriate records, follows established policies and procedures, integrates career development and work-based learning opportunities, and ensures the appropriate use and care of instructional equipment, technology, materials, and facilities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Considerable knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other business productivity software. Knowledge of Apple products preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Google Workspace and educational technology platforms.
  • Knowledge of Career and Technical Education business courses curriculums, instructional strategies, and effective classroom practices.
  • Knowledge of current business, finance, entrepreneurship, marketing, and workplace trends.
  • Knowledge of work-based learning, career development, employability skills, and career readiness initiatives.
  • Ability to prepare instructional objectives, lesson plans, and assessments aligned with North Carolina Standard Course of Study and CTE Essential Standards.
  • Ability to integrate technology, industry-recognized software, and digital tools into classroom instruction.
  • Ability to provide instruction that reflects diverse perspectives, cultures, and learning needs.
  • Ability to analyze student performance data and use multiple data sources to improve instruction.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and time management skills.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE

Bachelor''s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Entrepreneurship, Finance, Management, Marketing, Financial Services, Business Analytics, Economics, Human Resource Management, Project Management, Organizational Management, International Business, Risk Management and Insurance, or a closely related business field; AND

Two (2) years of related business or industry experience;

OR

Associate degree in a business-related field; AND

Four (4) years of related business or industry experience.

CERTIFICATION AND LICENSE REQUIREMENTS

Must hold or be eligible to hold a North Carolina Professional Educator''s License in the appropriate Career and Technical Education Business Education licensure area in accordance with North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI) requirements.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in Career and Technical Education.
  • Experience working in business, finance, management, entrepreneurship, marketing, or related industries.
  • Experience supervising work-based learning experiences or student internships.
  • Experience advising Career and Technical Student Organizations (CTSOs).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plans, delivers, and evaluates standards-based instruction aligned to the North Carolina CTE Business Education curriculum.
  • Develops engaging, relevant learning experiences that integrate business concepts, financial literacy, entrepreneurship, technology, and workplace readiness skills.
  • Incorporates project-based learning, business simulations, and authentic workplace applications into instruction.
  • Integrates employability skills, career development, and work-based learning opportunities into classroom instruction.
  • Utilizes a variety of formative and summative assessment strategies to monitor student learning and guide instructional decisions.
  • Differentiates instruction to meet the academic, social, emotional, and cultural needs of diverse learners.
  • Establishes and maintains a positive, organized, and safe classroom environment that promotes student engagement and achievement.
  • Integrates current instructional technology, digital business applications, and emerging technologies to enhance teaching and learning.
  • Advises or co-advises an approved Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO), such as DECA or Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), as assigned.
  • Supports students in career exploration, credential attainment, leadership development, and preparation for postsecondary education and careers.
  • Develops and maintains partnerships with local businesses, industries, postsecondary institutions, and community organizations to support classroom instruction and work-based learning experiences.
  • Collaborates with colleagues, administrators, counselors, parents, and community stakeholders to improve student achievement and program effectiveness.
  • Participates in continuous professional learning and maintains current knowledge of industry trends, instructional best practices, and CTE program requirements.
  • Maintains accurate student records, reports, inventories, credential documentation, and other required state and local program records.
  • Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal regulations governing Career and Technical Education programs.
  • Maintains appropriate safety procedures and ensures the proper use and care of instructional equipment, technology, materials, and facilities.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This position operates primarily in a classroom and Career and Technical Education instructional environment. The employee is required to sit, stand, walk, bend, reach, and move throughout the instructional day. The position routinely uses computers, interactive technology, business software, printers, scanners, copiers, and other instructional equipment. The employee will regularly interact with students, staff, parents, business and industry partners, postsecondary representatives, and community members. Occasional travel may be required for professional development, student competitions, work-based learning visits, industry partnerships, and other school-related activities. Work is considered light physical activity and may require lifting or moving materials and equipment weighing up to 25 pounds
