Salary and Length of contract year: In accordance with the Master Agreement, 183 days.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of 4000 (2 years full time) documented recent and relevant experience in an occupation related to areas of instruction and eligible for Michigan certification. (required)
- B.A. Degree and/or eligible for annual authorization*
- Annual Authorization Eligibility Requirements
- Employed in a relevant occupational position equal to 4000 hours in the last 5 years.
- Must be willing to return to school and earn a teaching license and bachelors degree within the next 10 years.
- Certified Nursing Assistant Train the Trainer eligible (minimum 1 year (2000 hours) in a long term care facility.(preferred but not required)
ADDITIONAL PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience related to long term care.
- Experience working with students.
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing to parents, students, staff and administration in a timely manner
- Comfortable using technology.
- Adaptable, flexible, positive attitude, self starter and ability to constantly improve.
- Broad background in the healthcare field to meet the needs of students' varied interests and abilities.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for teaching the program competencies as established by the State Department of Career and Technical Education and those established by the DSISD, including employability skills.
- Manage the classroom budget expenditures.
- Develop and maintain a course description, course outline, daily lesson plans, and task sheet based on course objectives.
- Utilize current software, hardware, instructional materials and teach using performance based instruction.
- Record students progress as necessary for grading and placement purposes.
- Prepare students for employment and post-secondary education.
- Maintain a thorough knowledge of business and industry requirements, and recommend modification of program objectives where appropriate.
- Provide the leadership component required by the office of Career and Technical Education and participate in youth organizations.
- Involve business and industry in the program through effective use of advisory committees and other activities such as guest speakers and field trips.
- Design the instructional delivery methods so that a variety of teaching/learning styles can be incorporated into the program.
- Develop and deliver units on employability skills.
- Maintain accurate attendance and communicate with parents/families when necessary
- Develop and deliver units on related math, communication and science.
- Develop promotional materials for student recruitment and enrollment.
- Maintain discipline and appropriate records, including communicating with parents.
- Participate in staff development activities related to curriculum improvement, and the development of instructional materials.
- Maintain post secondary credit agreements with post-secondary partners.
- Place students in work study opportunities and supervise when possible.
- Attend scheduled administrative/staff meetings.
- Assume other duties/responsibilities as assigned by the Director/Principal.
- Understand and be able to deliver state-approved credentials including CCMA, CNA, CPCT/A, CPT, CET, EMT.
