The CTE Health Science Teacher delivers standards-based instruction to high school students, preparing them for healthcare careers and postsecondary education. Appropriate TN licensure is required. Relevant clinical experience as well as instruction for but not limited to the following are required: anatomy, medical terminology, and patient care.
Key Responsibilities
- Instruction: Deliver engaging lessons aligned with Tennessee CTE Health Science standards.
- Curriculum Development: Design lesson plans using, lectures, hands-on activities, clinical simulations, and technology.
- Safety & Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to safety standards, including maintaining classroom equipment.
- Student Assessment: Evaluate student progress through exams, projects, and performance-based assessments.
- Career Readiness: Guide students toward healthcare career pathways and industry certifications.
- Professionalism: Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and student organizations.
Required Qualifications & Licensure
- License: Active TN Teacher Licensure with a 9–12 Health Science Endorsement.
- Clinical Experience: Typically requires 3–5 years of recent full-time work experience in a healthcare field.
- Certification: Valid, active licensure, registration, or certification from the Tennessee Board of Health (e.g., Registered Nurse, Respiratory Therapist, Paramedic)
- Strong classroom management and disciplinary skills.
- Ability to integrate technology into instruction.
- Effective communication with students, colleagues, and parents
