CTE Project Management Teacher

Franklin High School - Franklin, NC

Position Purpose

The Career & Technical Education (CTE) Project Management Teacher plans and delivers instruction for courses such as Project Management I, Project Management II, and CTE Advanced Studies. The teacher creates a classroom environment that supports students' academic, technical, and career development while preparing them for postsecondary education and the workforce.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and teach courses including:
  • Project Management I
  • Project Management II (Honors)
  • CTE Advanced Studies (Business pathway)
  • Develop lesson plans aligned with North Carolina CTE standards
  • Teach project lifecycle concepts: planning, execution, monitoring, and closing projects
  • Integrate real-world applications such as budgeting, risk management, and teamwork
  • Use technology tools (e.g., spreadsheets, presentations, project software) in instruction
  • Assess and monitor student progress using a variety of evaluation methods
  • Maintain accurate student records and follow school/district procedures
  • Create a safe, structured, and engaging classroom environment
  • Communicate regularly with students, parents, and school staff
  • Collaborate with colleagues, business partners, and community stakeholders
  • Support student organizations (e.g., FBLA, SkillsUSA) and work-based learning opportunities

  • Strong understanding of project management principles and business concepts
  • Ability to design engaging, project-based learning experiences
  • Effective classroom management and organizational skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Skill in integrating technology into instruction

Minimum Qualifications

Teacher I (Entry Level):

  • Bachelor's degree in business, management, project management, or related field
  • Relevant industry experience (typically 2+ years)
  • Eligible for or holding a North Carolina CTE teaching license

Teacher II (Experienced):

  • Meets Teacher I requirements plus:
  • Full NC teaching licensure in CTE
  • Successful teaching experience and demonstrated effectiveness

Preferred:

  • Project Management certification (e.g., PMP or similar)

Work Environment

  • Classroom and school setting
  • Regular interaction with students, staff, parents, and community partners
  • May involve supervising students in classrooms, events, and activities
