JOB TITLE: CTE STUDENT WORKER - TECHNICAL THEATRE & PRODUCTION OPERATIONS INTERN

REPORTS TO: TECHNICAL DIRECTOR

CALENDAR: CUSD STUDENT ACADEMIC CALENDAR

SALARY: UNPAID INTERNSHIP

Job Goal:

The Technical Theatre & Production Operations Intern works under the direct supervision and mentorship of the Technical Director to gain comprehensive, hands-on experience in production management, venue operations, and stage technology. This position offers a blend of structured guidance and independent project execution. The intern will manage venue inventories, maintain facility operational readiness, and have opportunities to step into leadership or design roles for after-school events (Plays, Musicals, Concerts, School Meetings, Assemblies, etc.).

Minimum Qualifications:

• Currently enrolled in a CUSD High School MIC500 class
• Satisfactory school conduct background check
• Provide two letters of recommendation from current CUSD teachers
• Must adhere to CUSD student dress code standards
• Must display ability to communicate effectively with staff, co-workers, and students

Core Job Functions:

• Space & Inventory Management: Establish and manage digital cataloging systems for costumes, props, and technical equipment to streamline show logistics and internal school department requests.
• Systems Maintenance & Equipment Care: Perform routine testing, cable management, and preventative maintenance on audio, lighting, and stage distribution systems to keep technical assets performance-ready.
• Venue Operations & Space Turnover: Oversee backstage organization, shop safety protocols, and spatial reconfigurations required to transition the auditorium between drama productions, music concerts, and daily school events.
• Event Support: Assist the Technical Director or A/V technician with set ups, tear downs, and technical execution of events in the venue.
• Production Leadership & Design Opportunity: Have the opportunity to serve as Crew Lead or Student Designer (Lighting, Sound, Props, or Set) for after-school productions, managing student run-crews during technical rehearsals and performances.
• Off-Campus Logistics: Safely drive off-campus as authorized to source, pick up, or return production materials, props, and hardware necessary for department projects
• Perform all duties safely and prudently as directed
• Perform other duties as assigned that support the overall objective of the position

Physical Requirements
