CTI Program - Curriculum Development Team
Description
Everett Public Schools is seeking two licensed Chapter 74 Culinary Arts instructors to serve on the Curriculum Development Team for its CTI Culinary Arts adult-training program. Team members will use the Massachusetts DESE Chapter 74 Culinary Arts frameworks to develop a comprehensive 12- to 14-week curriculum that prepares adult learners for success in the culinary industry. The curriculum must include hands-on technical instruction, employability skills, assessments, and dedicated preparation for applicable industry-recognized credentials.
Required Qualifications
- Current Massachusetts DESE Chapter 74 Culinary Arts vocational technical educator license.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the Massachusetts DESE Chapter 74 Culinary Arts frameworks.
- Experience developing curriculum, scopes and sequences, lesson plans, hands-on activities, and assessments.
- Experience teaching culinary arts in a commercial kitchen environment.
- Knowledge of applicable culinary industry-recognized credentials and the preparation required for participants to earn them.
- Ability to translate technical framework competencies into a focused and achievable 12- to 14-week adult-training curriculum.
- Understanding of food safety, sanitation, commercial kitchen operations, and current culinary-industry practices.
- Ability to develop accessible and differentiated materials for adult learners with varied backgrounds and learning needs.
- Strong collaboration, organization, written communication, and project-management skills.
- Ability to meet established curriculum-development deadlines between October 2026 and February 2027.
Responsibilities
- Collaboratively develop a cohesive, industry-aligned 12- to 14-week Culinary Arts curriculum for adult learners.
- Align the curriculum with relevant competencies from the Massachusetts DESE Chapter 74 Culinary Arts frameworks.
- Create a detailed scope and sequence that identifies weekly topics, technical skills, learning objectives, instructional hours, and expected outcomes.
- Develop lesson plans, hands-on activities, recipes, demonstrations, assignments, and assessments.
- Incorporate food preparation, kitchen safety, sanitation, commercial equipment use, and workplace-readiness skills throughout the curriculum.
- Build sufficient instructional and assessment time into the curriculum for applicable industry-recognized credential preparation and testing.
- Identify the materials, ingredients, equipment, technology, and instructional resources needed to implement the curriculum.
- Develop formative and summative assessments that measure participant progress and mastery of essential culinary competencies.
- Create clear expectations and rubrics for evaluating hands-on technical skills.
- Collaborate with the Counselor/ELL Support provider to ensure that instructional materials and assessments are accessible to English learners and multilingual adult participants.
- Incorporate differentiated instructional strategies and appropriate supports for adult learners with varied educational, professional, linguistic, and technical backgrounds.
- Coordinate with the Program Coordinator and program administrators to ensure that the curriculum aligns with grant requirements, program outcomes, and employer expectations.
- Prepare curriculum materials in an organized digital format for use by program instructors.
- Participate in required start-up meetings, curriculum-review sessions, and planning activities.
- Revise curriculum materials based on administrative, partner, or stakeholder feedback.
- Complete other curriculum-development responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Career and Technical Education.
Compensation
Each Curriculum Development Team Member will be compensated at a rate of $40.00 per hour for up to 50 hours, with maximum total compensation of $2,000 per team member. This is a temporary, grant-funded (Career Technical Initiative; Commonwealth Corporation) start-up position serving from October 2026 through February 2027. Hours are contingent upon program needs, continued grant funding, and successful completion and approval of assigned curriculum deliverables.
