Chief Technology Officer (CTO) - Remote, United States

We are seeking an accomplished Chief Technology Officer with 20+ years of experience in software engineering, technology strategy, architecture, cloud platforms, AI/ML, and engineering leadership. The CTO will define and execute the company's technology vision while building scalable, secure, high-performing products and engineering organizations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and execute the company's long-term technology strategy and roadmap.
  • Lead engineering, architecture, infrastructure, DevOps, security, and AI/ML initiatives.
  • Build and mentor high-performing engineering leadership and technical teams.
  • Design scalable cloud-native architectures across AWS, Azure, and/or GCP.
  • Establish engineering standards for reliability, security, observability, testing, and delivery.
  • Partner closely with the CEO, product leadership, customers, and board/investors.
  • Own technology budgets, technical hiring, vendor strategy, and organizational scaling.
  • Lead modernization of legacy platforms into scalable microservices and cloud-native systems.
  • Establish AI governance, data security, privacy, compliance, and responsible AI practices.
  • Translate business objectives into practical technical strategies and measurable outcomes.

Required Qualifications

  • 20+ years of software/technology industry experience.
  • Significant experience as a CTO, VP Engineering, SVP Engineering, Chief Architect, or equivalent technology executive.
  • Proven experience leading engineering organizations and large-scale technology initiatives.
  • Deep expertise in software architecture, distributed systems, cloud computing, APIs, microservices, and databases.
  • Strong knowledge of AWS/GCP/Azure, Kubernetes, CI/CD, DevOps, security, and observability.
  • Experience taking products from concept through production and scaling them for enterprise customers.
  • Excellent executive communication, strategic planning, hiring, mentoring, and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Ability to remain technically hands-on while operating at an executive level.
  • Experience working effectively with fully distributed/remote teams.

Preferred

  • Startup and high-growth technology experience.
  • Experience building technology organizations from the ground up.
  • SaaS, enterprise software, fintech, healthcare, AI, or platform experience.
  • Experience working with investors, boards, strategic partners, and enterprise customers.
  • Track record of reducing technology costs while improving engineering velocity, reliability, and product quality.
