Job Summary: 

The Trim Lead at Maven Genetics will support upper management in overseeing the trim department activities. While the primary focus of this role is Cultivation Trim Lead, the successful candidate may have the opportunity to cross-train in other positions within the department based on organizational needs. 

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Supports upper management in the implementation of trim protocols. 
  • Helps ensure that materials and cannabis plant life are trimmed, processed, and prepared with the highest standards of quality and efficiency. 
  • Helps ensure all team members are properly and compliantly attired in clean scrubs, covers, hairnets/beardnets, face masks etc. before entering the designated space(s). 
  • Oversees sanitation and preparation of trim/designated area(s), ensuring all workstations are cleaned, organized, and equipped with necessary tools and supplies. 
  • Supports in ensuring minimal cannabis materials and/or plant life loss and contamination. Helps verify that all waste materials are correctly sorted and disposed of according to Company and compliance guidelines. 
  • Supports supervising the trimming process, ensuring that all cannabis materials and/or plant life are trimmed according to specific strain requirements, size, appearance and any other Company standards. 
  • Supports the enforcement of all safety protocols, including the use of PPE and the proper handling of cannabis material and plant life. 
  • Supports creating and managing METRC transfers for all trimmed materials and/or plantlife, ensuring accurate and timely reporting in compliance with state regulations. 
  • Helps oversee and ensure the accuracy of inventory records within the trim department. Coordinating with other departments as needed and investigating to resolve inventory discrepancies. 
  • Supports in handling moderately complex issues and problems, and refers more complex issues to higher-level staff, such as minimizing disruptions and maintaining operational continuity. 
  • Can provide leadership, coaching, and/or mentoring to a subordinate group.
  • Has some authority for personnel decisions related to coordinating workflows and providing feedback to a subordinate group on daily tasks. 
  • Performs other duties as needed in support of business objectives as assigned by Supervisor(s).

Qualifications: 

  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree or relevant certification is a plus.  
  • At least 1 year of experience working in the cannabis industry; preferred. 
  • Basic understanding of California cannabis quality control principles, best practices, and regulatory compliance a plus. 
  • Basic understanding of plant biology, cultivation processes, technology, and safety protocols is a plus. 
  • Must complete a medical evaluation to determine physically capable of wearing a respirator or mask without health risks. 
  • Ability to troubleshoot equipment and process issues effectively. 
  • Detail-oriented with a strong focus on quality and efficiency, especially in regard to communication. 
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously. 
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and on-call shifts as needed. 

Requirements: 

  • Must be 21 years of age. 
  • Available and willingness to work flexible onsite hours, including evenings, weekends, and on-call shifts to meet business needs/production demands. 
  • Must have reliable transportation. 
  • Ability to stand for extended periods, sit for extended periods and continuous mobility and repetitive movements to stoop, kneel, and/or crouch on a daily basis. 
  • Manual dexterity and coordination. 
  • Ability to move around effectively, including walking to meetings and accessing various areas or departments of cannabis operations including but not limited to: indoor cultivation facilities, outdoor farms, warehouses, and retail store fronts. 
  • Occasionally lift and carry packaging supplies or equipment (typically up to 30 pounds). 

Employees may be exposed to: 

  • Loud noise from machinery or equipment. 
  • Nutrients, integrated pest management (IPM), chemicals used for agriculture environments, production, or maintenance. 
  • Pollen or other allergens from agriculture environments, production, and/or maintenance. 
  • CO2 enrichment in cultivation rooms. 
  • Temperature variations in workspaces.
