New Mexico's Public High School for the Arts Job Description Job Title: Cultural Liaison Reports To: Head of School FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Work Schedule: 22.5 hours per week (0.6 FTE), schoo l-year calendar. Flexibility required for some evening/weekend events. Job Summary The Cultural Liaison at New Mexico School for the A rts (NMSA) plays a vital role in fostering an inclusive, equitable, and culturally responsive sch ool community. Through the management of the Cultural Room Program and coordination of stude nt-led cultural events and activities, the Cultural Liaison builds connections across campus a nd throughout the state to ensure that all students and families feel seen, valued, and empowe red. Essential Responsibilities Lead the NMSA Cultural Room Program to support stud ent connection, identity, and belonging. Supervising the Cultural Room during student lunch and other times. Serve as a member of the Student Support Team, Equi ty Council (as chair), and Instructional Leadership Team. Host activities, events, and planning sessions thro ugh the Cultural Room, including cultural heritage month celebrations and student eld trips. Support students' social-emotional and artistic/aca demic growth by serving as an adult mentor. Serve as the Student Council Advisor, guiding stude nt leadership and organizing school-wide events such as dances and community gat herings. Coordinate with tribal leaders, families, and commu nity organizations to develop programming re ective of New Mexico's diverse cultures. Deliver and support professional development on div ersity, equity, and inclusion for students, staff, and community members. Proven success working with diverse student populat ions, especially Indigenous youth, students of color, English learners, and LGBTQ+ stu dents. Deep knowledge of New Mexico's cultures, communitie s, and tribal nations. Experience in program development, youth mentorship , or cultural programming. Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizati onal skills. Commitment to equity and culturally responsive prac tices. Ability to work collaboratively with students, staf f, families, and external partners. Personal integrity and professional ethics; maintai ns clear boundaries with students and stakeholders.
