Job Summary

The Culture and Stewardship Coordinator will overlay culturally relevant curriculum and materials on existing and future educational programs and training. This person will supervise the K'beq Heritage Site and development, schedule specialized programming involving youth performances, tours, and events. This person will develop and implement public presentations during the winter months. This person will ensure appropriate representation the Tribe's mission, strategic plan, cultural heritage, and language in future planning, community representation, and published materials.

Essential Functions

  • Ensure that the mission, traditions, and culture of the Kenaitze Indian Tribe are incorporated into all functions of the Tribe's cultural and educational programs and services
  • Oversee development of cultural activities and programs in the Kenaitze Tribal Programs Department
  • Consult with division program leads on cultural programming
  • Develop Heritage and Cultural curriculum, materials, and programs
  • Supervise cultural and heritage programs and staff at K'beq Heritage Site
  • Partner with agencies to develop appropriate community representation of Tribal Stewardship, Heritage and Culture
  • Support Community Youth and Elders activities and programs
  • Network with stakeholders in the development of educational materials
  • Ensures compliance with Tribal, federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, Tribal policies and TERO ordinance

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Education, Alaska Studies, Culture and Language, related degree, or a combination of education and experience in a related field may be substituted for a degree

Experience

  • Three (3) years teaching or instructing youth
  • Experience with culturally appropriate education
  • Knowledge of Kenaitze Indian Tribe's history and cultural heritage
  • Collaborative program development
  • Curriculum design, implementation, and assessment

Preferred

  • Knowledge and experience working with cultural diversities
  • Bilingual and Biliterate –English and Dena'ina

License/Certification

  • Must have a valid Alaska State driver's license and must remain insurable under the Tribe's policy, or obtain within 90 days of hire
