    Job Description

    Piedmont Global, a Strategic Globalization Organization(SGO) is looking for experienced Curriculum Specialists to support the School of Language Studies at the NFATC. These are full-time, onsite positions at the NFATC campus in Arlington, VA.
    Duration: August 17, 2026 – August 15, 2027

    Duties
    • Develop language training materials, reference materials, and instructional research and development initiatives following the School of Language Studies model at the NFATC.
    • Manage the development and implementation of new specialized language training programs for domestic and overseas use. Assist other language professionals in a mentoring capacity by developing models that reflect best practices as defined by the field of Instructed Second Language Acquisition. Actively encourage the broader use of innovative training models, including distance learning, multimedia learning systems, guided self-study, coaching, use of local language environments, and tutoring.
    • Lead groups in the development of staff training projects or independently undertake training development activities, including the design and delivery of workshops for SLS staff. Training projects may involve coaching, mentoring, or classroom observation, as required.
    • Collaborate with the Division of Curriculum, Student and Staff Development to draft all required documentation for the curriculum development project approval process and provide status updates on approved projects, as directed.


    Requirements

    • A minimum of three (3) years of experience developing courses for adult learners of foreign languages.
    • A BA/BS, MA/MS, Ph.D., or foreign equivalent degree in a relevant language education field, such as Corpus Linguistics, Second Language Acquisition, Applied Linguistics, and/or Instructional Design, with demonstrated expertise through professional experience or publications in instructional design and/or curriculum development methodologies in language education.
    • Basic computer proficiency, including email, Microsoft Office Suite, and familiarity with online meeting platforms such as Zoom, Skype, and Microsoft Teams.
    Preferred Qualifications
    • Experience incorporating a range of educational technologies into instructional materials.
    • Experience designing materials for proficiency-based instruction.
    • Experience designing task-based language learning materials.
    • Experience designing vocabulary-based language learning materials.
    • Experience designing courses utilizing hybrid learning models.
    • Experience integrating social media applications for educational purposes.
    • Experience designing and delivering training tailored to the needs of the diplomatic community.
