JOB SUMMARY
Under general supervision, plan, supervise and participate in the activities of an assigned custodial crew; assure buildings and adjacent grounds areas are maintained in a clean, orderly and secure condition; train, schedule and supervise the performance of a custodial crew; perform related duties as assigned.

Modern cleaning methods including basic methods of cleaning floors, blackboards, carpets, furniture, walls and fixtures.

Preventive maintenance for custodial and plant equipment.

Operate a variety of custodial equipment.
Estimate and order required custodial supplies and equipment.
Maintain tools and equipment in clean working order.
Move and arrange furniture and equipment.
Observe and report safety hazards and need for maintenance and repair.
Perform minor non-technical repairs.
Observe safety and sanitary precautions and procedures.
Plan and organize work.
Prioritize and schedule work.
Meet schedules and time lines.
Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Operate a computer, two-way radios and assigned office equipment.
Education and Training:
Graduation from high school or equivalent.
Experience:
Two years of custodial experience or one year of experience as a Lead Custodian in the Long Beach Unified School District.
Any other combination of education, training and experience, which demonstrates that the applicant is likely to possess the required skills, knowledge or abilities, may be considered.
Special Requirements
Positions in this classification require possession of a valid California Class C drivers license and are required to obtain and submit, at his/her own expense, his/her current motor vehicle driving record at the time of appointment. The record must meet and be maintained at the Districts safe driving standard. Failure to meet this requirement will result in the disqualification and/or rejection of the applicant regardless of any other standing.

Classified employees earn paid vacation at the initial rate of 14 days for full-time 12 month employees (.055 hour for each hour worked) and receive increases after 5, 10, and 15 years of service for a total of 21 days after 15 years.
12 month Classified employees earn 13 working days of sick leave each year which are accumulated indefinitely. Employees of other California school districts who have accrued sick leave may transfer it to LBUSD in accordance with the California Education Code.
12 month Classified employees receive 14 paid holidays per year.

Do you possess a valid California Class C drivers license?

Possession of a valid California Class C drivers license is required. At the time of appointment, you will be required to obtain, at your expense, your motor vehicle driving record which must meet and be maintained at the Districts Safe Driving Record Standard. Failure to meet this requirement will result in your disqualification and/or rejection regardless of your qualifications. The Districts Safe Driving Record Standard is defined as meeting all of the following criteria: No more than three (3) moving violations within the past three (3) years No more than one (1) at fault accident within the past three (3) years (any accident shall be deemed at-fault absent sufficient proof to the contrary, such as: a signed statement from a private insurance company, or a report from the Department of Motor Vehicles or other government agency); No conviction for failure to report an accident within the past three (3) years No conviction for driving under the influence, or driving while intoxicated, or reckless driving within the past five (5) years.
