Custodial & Maintenance Coordinator

The YMCA of the Northern Sky in Fergus Falls is seeking a motivated, hands-on leader to join our team as our Custodial & Maintenance Coordinator. Reporting to the Property Manager, the Custodial & Maintenance Coordinator directly supervises the Fergus Falls YMCA custodial staff while coordinating the daily custodial operations and supporting facility maintenance. This is a working supervisor position - you'll spend time leading, coaching, and developing your team while also performing custodial and maintenance duties to ensure our facilities remain clean, safe, and operational.

Leadership & Supervision

• Directly supervise and support the custodial team.
• Schedule staff and assign daily work priorities.
• Train new employees and provide ongoing coaching and performance feedback.
• Monitor quality standards and ensure cleaning procedures are consistently followed.
• Foster a positive, team-oriented work environment focused on service and accountability.

Custodial Operations

• Develop and maintain cleaning schedules and procedures.
• Perform routine and specialized cleaning, including floor care, detail cleaning, and general custodial responsibilities.
• Conduct facility inspections to ensure YMCA cleanliness standards are met.
• Order custodial supplies and manage inventory.
• Coordinate vendor services as needed.

Maintenance Operations

• Complete preventative maintenance and routine facility repairs.
• Perform basic electrical, plumbing, carpentry, HVAC, boiler, and fitness equipment repairs.
• Maintain maintenance records and preventative maintenance schedules.
• Identify facility repair needs and work with the Property Manager to prioritize projects.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Two years of related custodial, maintenance, or facilities experience

Within one year of hire:

• Obtain Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification

Shifts Needed:

This is a full-time position with a schedule that varies based on facility needs. This position is required to work two weekends per month as part of its regular schedule to provide leadership and operational support.
