Job Summary:
Coordinates and supervises the performance of housekeeping and custodial duties while maintaining records of hours workedby employees. Performs various administrative duties, and ensures compliance with departmental contracts, policies, and procedures.
Essential Functions:
40% Supervises employees and inspects buildings to evaluate employee job performance and enforce compliance with contracts,
policies, and procedures.
20% Performs various administrative duties including maintaining personnel records, developing and monitoring the departments.
budget, preparing reports, managing supply orders, and controlling inventory.
15% Anticipates the housekeeping and custodial needs of the University to plan and coordinate daily work activities effectively.
Develops programs and policies to create a safe and clean environment for the campus community.
15% Provides training and instruction to housekeeping and custodial employees while managing employee work schedules and
recording employee hours.
10% Cooperates with other departments, students, and the general public to solve problems, communicate information, and
maintain good public relations.
Education:
Requires high school diploma.
Licenses/Certifications/Requirements:
ValidDriver’sLicense.Regular schedule changes may be necessary—aminimum offorty hoursof mandatory overtimeper calendaryearis.
Experience:
Requires a minimum of 1yearofexperiencein housekeeping/custodial operations andtheability to train and supervise employees.
Knowledge of relevant safety practices, inventory control, budgeting, public relations, andrecord-keeping. Strong
communication,andproblem-solvingskills, and the ability to perform general managerial duties required.General PC knowledgeis. Must be computer literate withproficiencyand working knowledge of database and reporting tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Leadership:
Direct supervision and evaluation of work as a first-line supervisor over non-exempt staff including hiring,terminating,
disciplining,or functional guidance and/or project leadership over exempt staff engaged in activitiesregularly.
Physical Requirements:
Light physical effortisrequired involving stooping and bending;theindividual has limited discretion about walking, standing,etc.
occasionallylifting oflightweight objects (up to 25 lbs.).
Working Conditions:
Occasional minor discomforts from exposure to less-than-optimal temperatures and airconditions. May involveoccasional
exposure to dust, fumes, or outside weather conditions, and/or frequent driving of a vehicle (50% or more of the time).
Shift Available:Monday–Friday, 3:00 p.m.-11:30 p.m. Initial training will be conducted on first shift (6:00 a.m.- 2:30 p.m.). Regular shift may change based on departmental needs.
Compensation:The hourly rate for this position is $18.21.
